Engine Tech / Alternator Bracket Interchange?
Quote from: danzajax;280434
I can even pull one from the JY for you if you pay part plus ship.
I just wanted to thank everyone for their help on this forum. Sometimes I join forums looking for help and get ran off because I haven't contributed...glad to see you aren't like that!
I got the bracket from danzajax today and got it put on...it was the same part number as the broken one. Weird thing was that the regulator plug hit the bracket and wouldn't let me get the upper alt. mounting bolt in. I ended up clearancing the bracket slightly with a grinder and then smoothing it out with a hand file and it seems to have worked good. I compared the regulator plug to alt. case height with my '88 Bronco's alternator and it was only .08-.09" taller so I don't think that would be enough for the clearance issues I had. Oh well, it is on there now.

Even if it is I cant see how it would interfere with the other brackets. It hangs off the left side of the engine. Maybe those little support bars are different lengths? Maybe it would change the belt length.
I can even pull one from the JY for you if you pay part plus ship. Website lists 10.50 +2.00 for entry for the bracket, and Id imagine another 15 or so in shipping. Your friend would save himself that 15 dollars going to a local yard though.
It is from a 5.0 right?
I was tempted to just buy the Mustang one and try to make it work...but it isn't my car so I don't want to rig it if I can help it...or be out the money for a part that doesn't work.
If you could get me a bracket that would be great. The small junkyard in my town doesn't have one and the next closest yards are 40+ miles...and they are pretty expensive. Plus I work two jobs AND do mechanic work on the side so unless I charge labor for travel time I'm loosing money myself. I'll PM you details. Thanks!
