Transmission slipage

To make a long story short, I had to change the transmission fluid and filter on my 88 Cougar, AOD. Now there is slipping between first and second when I start out. If the car has been running a while, there is no slipping. Has anyone else had this problem, or know of anything I can do to fix it?

I dunno if this is where yours is going, but mine started slipping after the torque converter began making noise, and the problem just progressed.  Long story short, now my car is sitting in the driveway awaiting a 5 speed because it slips terribly and won't shift above 2nd gear.

I pulled the valvebody from mine when it had those symptoms and then pulled and cleaned (surgically clean) each valve one at a time until complete.Re-installed and it's been great for a year.I can't say it will fix yours, but it worked for me.AODs are very tempermental when it comes to any junk getting in there.
