Stories of tickets that you have recieved....

Share with us your stories about tickets (or how did you evaded them) , speeding, reckless driving, no insurance, sudden stops, even the stupid faults, and others.

Ok, ill start. Usually im a good driver, and one time i was driving the cougar. I left mom`s house and i needed to take the highway. Well, i acelerated and suddendly a car was going very fast aproacching to me. Well, i was at the left lane, but i was obeying the posted limit (45 MPH) but the car was traveling like 80MPH, so i though "well, if this guy wants to pass me,  he has to take the right side" and the car started to flash his headlights, but i didnt change, and whoops , the lightbar comes on, so i was pulled over. I asked the officer "Whats the problem officer" he said "you didnt change lanes when i told you with the headlights" and i replied "when i see someone traveling so fast in this roadway, i guess he had to slow down a little bit showing that the fast lane is marked at 45 MPH"

Believe it or not, it worked.....i had only a warning...

Once i got pulled about the window tinting in my car, it is prohibited here in the state, but my cougar has out-of-state plates, so, bye bye, another warning, but no ticket....

Another i was driving the F-150 and was cruising in the same highway at 65 (remember the max speed is 45) and the officer had the laser gun ! holy shiznit! i couldnt slow down, and the officer jumped in his patrol, but the house actually was very near , so with the speed i had, i punched the gas pedal and since the f-150 is not a dog , i left him very far, like 30 car lenghts, but wasnt fun....

Hell, I have gotten a bunch of them.  The worst was this though:

Driving home from a Michigan football game on I-94 in my budies '97 Cobra.  Got her up to 145 and as I looked ahead of me, there he was, just rolling along the shoulder, waiting for me to blow by him.  He pulls me over, and I am thinking "I am going to jail", he comes up starts yelling at me and then just gives me a ticket for 100 in a 75.  I was darn lucky and still don't know why he didn't haul me in...

Got a ticket for Obstruction of Mirror, $70. I had my car written on while I was at work, got pulled over after work, and I had cleaned my mirrors and windshield off. I asked him if 2 clear mirrors was legal, he said yes. I pointed out that all three were clear, he instantly said, I'll be right back. Wrote me up, told me to wash all of it off, or it would cost me another ticket.

Was pulled over 2 weeks later, and I quote, "You might not have stopped back there, but Im just gonna give you a warning tonite, and we will be performing a drug dog search." They ran the dog around my car, I still think thats bull, and he said "thanks for wearing your seatbelts, have a good night"

Before all of that, we were driving around an 87 Toyota Celica. We rolled it in a friends front yard, cut the roof off, kicked out the windshield and all windows, removed back seat, cut seatbelts, sprainted the whole car, and ripped off one fender. Drove it around the block with straight pipe for 3 hours or so. saw 2 cops, yelled for my friend to pull in the alley and park it. Low and behold, it died, we start pushing it, cops pull up. Got a lecture about how dangerous this was to drive a car like this. He is the nice cop in town, friend got a ticket for no tag. He said, "well your license is in your house, you wont need insurance since obviously you were just getting it running, and i see your tag is laying in the yard, well boys it has to be on the vehicle. Next time wear eye protection without a windshield, and be safe"
"Real cars dont power the front wheels, they lift them"

I was going over the bridge here in town to the east side (buttstuff Cops) and my truck was acting up, so I punched it and was up to 50 in 35, well the cop was traveling in the other lane go west I was going east. I didn't think he would get me, but out of no were three of them are on my tall. First off I didn't think that the town had more than two. but to have three at once that is just dumb, I can see two but three... they must have been bored. Well he came asked me the usual "No why I pulled you over?" I replied yes "I was doing 50 in a 35, then spude some bs about my vehicle being a pos and just getting off of a 16 hours shift, (which did suck). and he just told me to keep it down and not to speed, no warning ticket or anything.

I like being honest! For the most part.

Daniel

I know not really a ticket, never have had one. But it was the only time I was pulled over!

So one night me and some buddies decide to drink in my garage.  A few into the night we are surprized to find 2 cops standing inside ready to give us tickets.

Six nights later I'm at school and wasted.  I decide it's a good idea to carry a 30 pack of beer through town.  About  4 blocks into it I have a cop (ironically enough from my hometown) writing me another $314 ticket.

I'm dumb^

I was only ever stopped once for speeding.
I was 19, and my (now ex) husband was with me, as was his cousin who was 26 at the time.  The ex and I had just moved into a new home and I had gone that day to turn on the electric, etc.
All the people who helpoed us move, wanted some beer, so we went to the next town over (also in another state) to get it.  My car had been acting up and I had to kind of gun the engine for it to start running smoother.
On our way home, I was in a 45 zone and came into a 55, so I was trying to get up to speed. I had to get on the gas a bit to get it up to 55, and suddenly I realized it was at 65, so I just backed off the throttle and slowed down. When I did, I saw someone behind me, flashing their head lights at me.
I thought i was someone wanting me to go faster. Well, I wasn't about to do that, so I stayed at 55..... then my ex turned around and said, "It's a cop, pull over."
So, I pulled over, scared to death, as I had never been stopped before. So, the officer came to the window and asked if I knew why he pulled me over. I explained about the car.
He asked for my licence, and I couldn't find it!! I asked him if I could look under the seat for it, as I had had it in the car earlier when I got the electric turned on.
He let me look, and it was there, so I gave it to him.
He was looking at it, then saw the alcohol in the back seat. He asked if I had been drinking that night, and I told him, "No, I'm 3 months pregnant and I don't drink.'
He said OK and let me go with a warning, and said to be careful.

I've never been stopped for speeding since then.....of course, I don't go more than 5 over the limit, if any over at all.

I've gotten 1 ticket for being stupid. One day durring the summer after high school I decided to do a smoke show with the Tbird for some friends. I proceeded to smoke the tires down the whole length of a city block. A cop was comming aroud the corner just as I finished. I got a $75 ticket for reckless driving. The cop also said I put on a good show:rolleyes:

...as opposed to your current husband... ;)

Only ticket I ever got was in our local speedtrap--which unfortunately, Greg and Will found out about the hard way at CJ this year. I was like 20 at the time, in my light blue '84...it was 1990. Back then there was this big time cat-and-mouse game that local drivers played with law enforcement over the use of radar detectors. I had one, it was on, had it hard-wired into the electrical system, sort of stealthy. The speed limit dropped from 40 to 25 with no warning. I got picked out of a line of cars doing 33 in a 25. They must have seen the radar detector...got the ticket for $75. And how frickin' convenient that they had a mail-in program, no court appearance needed unless you were protesting. I vowed never to spend another cent in that town for as long as I live. It's been 16 years...so far so good. ;)  F them and their speedtrap. They can rot. Never drive through Poland, Ohio.

I have been pulled over and let go with warnings for
- No front plate (three times)
- Window tint
- Going through a red light (it was yellow but whatev)
- Going through a yellow light (yep)
- Speeding (in my hometown, cops don't usually ticket residents)

I'm not nearly as reckless anymore, I suppose. Just one of your normal, boring, courteous drivers.

One time, my dad was at work and his mom had to go to the hospital, so me, my mom, and my sis hopped in a car and drove there.  When dad got home, the only car he could take was his '66 Chevelle.  So he hops in, and heads down the highway.  As he's cruisin, he notices a cop coming up quickly behind him, so he goes to the right lane cause he's gonna get pulled.  The cop pulls up next to dad, rolls down the window, gives dad a thumbs up, and drives off :rollin:  .  Hahahahahaha

Strangely enough, my better stories are for the tickets I didn't get. Once while driving in Halifax I was pulled over for having my plate obscured by snow. In a snowstorm. The cop made me get out and brush the plate off. In a snowstorm. I pointed out that his plate was obscured as well. He didn't see the humour in it...

Once way back when I was 16 and driving my LT1-powered '78 Trans Am at an indicated 140 MPH (in a 60 zone) I passed a cop sitting in a speed trap. He turned his lights on, then turned 'em off. He didn't even bother. Needless to say I took thye next exit off that highway...

...And another time while driving my '87 Sport I got pulled over for window tint. My windows were not tinted. The cop walked up, asked me to roll up my window, and as soon as it started to come up he could see no tint, so he said "Oh. I thought you had tint. Carry on. And he walked away.

The funniest would have to be the motorcycle cop that pulled me over (in my old T/A). I was stopped at a light. He was coming the other way and saw my spray-bomb paint job so decided to pull me over. In his haste to do a U-turn he dropped his bike :D Didn't stop him from doing an impromptu roadside "safety inspection" on my car, and it probably didn't help matters much that my buddy and I were giggling like schoolgirls while he did this (his bike still lying on its side behind my car). He couldn't find anything wrong, and we, being the upstanding teenagers we were, helped him set the bike upright again after he very sheepishly asked us to...

The ticket itself aint nothin, but......

Let's go back in time, May '94.

OK, I park my car in a lot that belongs to the Town of Hempstead one day 'cause I happen upon a pet store and need some stuff so I pull in a spot in reverse with the front of my car facing out.  I get out of the car and on my way into the store I pass a parking enforcement clerk (you know, a meter maid) and she says hello to me.  Keep in mind I must have taken 5 steps from my car at this point.

I come out and find a nice little yellow piece of paper on my windshield that states I've violated section so-and-so of Hempsead Town Ordnance.  The violation?  One  2 foot by 2 foot sign is the only one in the lot that states "Head in Parking Only".  I parked about a football field away from it.  Never saw it till after.  Like I said.  I backed into the spot.  Thanks Meter Maid Lady, for not sayin nothin about my parking and maybe doing something curteous instead of saying hello and then sticking the $60 knife in my back as I walk away!

Yeah, 17 years old and I gotta pay $60 without my parent figuring out(I'll never hear the end of it).  I know I'll come back next week and pay it in person.  It was when I was on my way back from paying the fine that my ol' Metallic Red 87 Cougar LS 3.8 V6 decided it was high time to show me just what happens when a TFI module malfunctions (I was a TFI virgin at this point).  The tow home was another $120.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

The bogus ones are all the times cops just found excuses to pull me over.  These are all real occurrences folks.  I'm not too thrilled with law enforcement as a whole.  I sort of lump them in with lawyers.  If you have a question about one of these, I can answer it but didn't feel like typing each scenario out for this post.

That's a good one, considering that all 98-and-newer GM vehicles and some Hondas, Volvos and Toyotas have daytime running lights in USA. All '90 and newer vehicles have 'em in Canada.

What ever happened to "Lights on for safety"? That cop sounds like a super dick...
