Battery Tray

Is there a reason I can't get the battery tray out of my car? It seems held in by something thats poking upward through the bottom of the tray but the only two things in the fender that are in the area just spin indefinitely. I've had no problem pulling TC trays so I'm not sure why this Sport one won't budge. I'm about ready to just drill the thing out.

edit:
on second look, it appears to be a REALLY small nut thats all corroded. Can't get the thing out

already done. Started running 0 gauge wires but found out I can't continue until my last parts arrive (didn't think it through 100%). Have to dangle my 4 gauge wire until they arrive. Speaking of which, I found a nice melted spot of insulation on the alternator -> starter relay one. Good thing I found it before it decided to short out. Thank god for fuses

Ha, that's how mine was too. They put that bolt under the battery and I guess over time, enough acid comes off the batteries to eat that bolt all up. Mine vaguely resembled a bolt and I ended up breaking it off. The speednut was trash, and there was quite a bit of rust on the framerail below the battery too...not good.

Huh mine came out fine. I just replaced my battery tray this year because the old one was kinda nasty.

yeah, I found a couple small spots of surface rust under the tray. Sad because thats the only rust on my car's body

i should be a grave digger for digging so many threads up:hick:

it was interesting that i came across this as i had to take my battery tray out a few weeks ago, coincidentally to clean up the battery acid that leaked out from my vents being popped open on it.
the tray was fiberglass or something and had no problem getting my bolts out as they werent corroded but i wish i didnt take them out now that i see what battery acid will do to paint.
as soon as i got the bolt under the battery out it all leaked out right under the tray and within the 10-15 seconds it took for me to get my hose and spray it off it stripped the paint clean off under it and all over the wires that run under the tray:punchballs:
i had to throw a couple coats of some red metalflake spraypaint i had laying around to cover it before it started to rust(it was getting ready to rain when it happened that day).
its wierd because the last time i had the battery out before that it(during the winter) was dry as a bone and then last night when i pulled it again i found water pooled up in the tray, even though i havent washed it in a while.
i have pics but ill post them when i get on a computer.
