Question on a truck.

I just picked up a '79 Ford F250 with a 400, 4x4, super swampers and a 3-4 inch lift. Someone told me that the truck has Dana 60 front and rear axles and a 206 gear to gear transfer case. Are these worth anything?

I'm not sure if I want to ruin and s this truck or try selling it.

DONT SCAP IT!!!!us off road guys love them trucks! The 79's are the most sod after trucks that FORD ever made,,,,,,,,that thing in fair shape {if it runs}is around$3,000 at the very least,,,mine is beat,,with a 429 ,9in lift,44's,,,,i was offerd,,,$4,500,,,for it 6 months ago,,,,hold on to it or look for the right buyer

Dont s it! post up some pics, whats the body like? I wouldnt label them as the 'most sought after' but theyre fairly desireable. My buddy picked up a 78 with a blown rear and a 400, hes been stockpiling parts all summer and were building it up this winter so he car run shiznit over easier :hick:

Huh, maybe I'll have to ebay this thing. The body isn't all that bad, hood is pretty beat up. The thing runs awesome, starts real easy. Engine has a holley dominator aluminum intake with a holley 4bbl carb.

The steering is real sloppy, tires are about shot, but it sure likes to climb stuff and loves mud. Thanks for the info, I'll see if I can't snap some pics.

So if thats all it needs why get rid of it? I wish I could get ahold of a truck like that.

My brother used to have a '77 F-150, those are nice old trucks and good for off-roading (thanks to the live axle out front). BTW they have a 9" in the back, I think the front is a Dana 60. I can't remember what the transfer case is.

Also the '77-79 all had the same setup, just that '77 had round headlights and '78-79 had square headlights. And yeah they are fairly desirable mostly because they're cheap and easy to lift (going back to that live axle again).

actually 77 had a split grill and round lights... 78 had a solid grill with round lights and late option of square lights... now 79 was the solid grill and square lights.

The rear in this thing is definitely not a 9". I'll have pics in an hour.

the rear will be either a dana 44, or dana 60, (most likely) if it's a 3/4 ton...the 400 engines are good, low rpm powerhouses that WILL NOT hold up to high rpm unless built well....
and not to be an ass, but that truck is either gold plated, or something, but not worth 45oo bucks here...lol
i about a '79 last summer for 600 bucks, and it was in way better shape than this one is described...and was lifted to boot.
The steering box is probably worn out cause of the big tires...also check for the frame to be ripped up where it bolts to at.

I guesstimated what he meant :p

And I dunno about other areas but I could get $4-5k around here easy with that truck, more if I tried.

eh, about 2 grand here, and that'd be with new (or better than bald) tires on...looks ok for as old as it is though, most that age are beat all to hell...and that is a 60 rear..
not bad, i'd keep it myself, if i were you...

not to bad,,,it still can be saved,,,''ford guy'' is right,,,you have a $600-$900 truck just 'cause its a 3/4 ton,,but parts are easy to find

Oops, wasn't paying attention to the fact that it was an F-250. F-150's did have the 9" in the back.

BTW the transfer case is an NP205 in those things...supposed to be one of the most bulletproof t-cases out there.
