Getting rid of your fox. Reply #2 – August 05, 2006, 11:31:43 PM I might be forced into letting my cat go. I know the frame is rusted completely, but I just don't want to let it go. A dealer is offering $3000 on any trade in. My cougar would be the trade in, and you know what that means? It means its the crusher for my cougar. I don't think I will be able to walk away from my cat one last time, knowing it's going to a crusher.Of course. if theyre doing it for every car, giving them a cougar with only a drivers seat and a stearing wheel is always possible.. and I have always wondered how good my cat would look as a convertable. I sold cars and am certain they are messing with numbers. You will probably be better off selling it to one of us for $400 or so.For new car, ask them to listSticker Price:_________Dealer discount:-______Selling price:__________Sales Tax:____________Other State fees:______Total:________________Rebates:-_____________Cash down:-___________Trade:-_______________Amount due:__________Used cars is a whole different ballgame. Let us know if you are considering new or used. I have more words to type regarding used but don't want to type all of that if you are considering new. Quote Selected
Getting rid of your fox. Reply #6 – August 06, 2006, 02:18:37 AM Considering my Uncle died defending the car, and its my first car. I wouldnt let it go either way, but I love this car. I dont care what else I do own, I would honestly sell my Dads Chevelle over my Cougar. Quote Selected

QuoteWhat you do is go in, find the exact car you want, work out the best deal you can then mention your trade in sitting outside :Dyep, that tweaks them pretty good. even if they first ask you (and they will) if you have a trade say no at first. much more so if you are dealing with used cars. new, not so much. its much easier to find the bottom line on a new car. at least if you own it oughtright. if you owe money, its going to be alot different. Getting rid of your fox. Reply #12 – August 06, 2006, 07:40:25 PM I did cry when we took her to my brother's house... I also get very teary eyed when I see her sitting in his yard. :( Quote Selected
Getting rid of your fox. Reply #13 – August 06, 2006, 08:22:16 PM I would cry like a baby in public or in private. My '88 means the world to me and I couldn't even think of letting it go. (Although I mentioned it a few times on here  )When I bought my new car I think the dealer was waiting for my trade. I drove the Cougar to the dealer and nothing felt better than driving my new car away from the dealership with my cat behind me. :D Quote Selected
Getting rid of your fox. Reply #14 – August 06, 2006, 09:46:13 PM I like my mach1, and would sell it, and am trying to sell it, before I would ever sell my cats. I missed being able to drive my cats last winter, and once I got the 88' back on the road, I drove it for at least a week straight. It felt so much more comfortable to sit in, even if the mach1 seats are worth nearly as much as one of my cats. My 86' is a bit rough, but it just feels good to be in it. They killed my love for my mach1. Somebody buy my mach1 PLEASE!!! Quote Selected
