maryland event?

Hi Guys;

Here's a suggestion. :)

Junk yard runs have been pretty popular with the Lincoln Mark VII Club lately.  Basically we meet in the morning, have breakfast somewhere, then hit the yard.

It's been years since I've been to Mt Airy, but I do know there is a yard there that used to be called Auto Parts Exchange.  Back then, I had a GM G-body car, and that yard was a G-body goldmine, and prices were good too.  I ~think~ it's a Crazy Ray's now.

I think Eldersburg is not far from Mt Airy, and Jimmy Cone has cruises one Saturday a month.  How about picking a weekend when Jimmy Cone is having a cruise and make it a day of playing with cars.  I'm positive there is some restaurant off that Mt Airy exit where everyone could meet, pig out on breakfast food, hit the yard, then take in a cruise.

Just throwing an idea out there. :)

I'm sure Glen Burnie has some sort of alternatives like this also.  There is a cruise EVERY Saturday night at some shopping center near the MVA on Ritchie Hwy.

Fred knows all about these "all day" events, he's great at them.

Thanks Rick.

Okay, if I'm not mistaken didn't we meet back in '05 at site 26 or was it 22?
I remember a bathroom nearby and the playground and pavilion across the street.
either way...

It seems any saturday would be the best day to do this from reading the posts on here. September sounds like a winner so we have the following dates...

2
16
23
30

I am totally free and clear on the 2nd, 16th, and 30th.
I'm scheduled to work on the 9th and 23rd but I may be able to take off.

I'm looking at the Patapsco site and the pavilions for $10 are limited to 10 people and the $20 pavilions are limited to 20 people. Judging by the looks on here we will have more than 10 people in attendence so we would need the larger pavilion.

So what dates are good everyone else?

Bondocougar, how did you find what's available each date? I went through the 'make a reservation' route but the results were always the same. Maybe it's just me.

Thanks for the input as well John.
There are paved parking spots right next to each pavilion so luckily that isn't an issue.
Bathrooms are pretty covered since the 20 people pavilions are near them.

Food, I don't know. Let's get a date and time set first.

Lets not worry too much about junkyard runs or anything as of yet. Many of us havnt seen eachother, or seen eachothers cars, or anything, and like the last time, we were able to stand, BS, and have a good time without running around. I figure that we need a day to chill, get to know eachother, and figure out eachothers actual interests before we plan all of this running around.

Hey, I'll make the trip down also.  Just hope it will fall in-between the dates that I have to travel back out to Tacoma, WA.

Whittling down:  I'm busy on the 30th so, so far we have the 2nd and 16th unless someone else says they can't do those dates.

My preference leans toward the 16th though.

I guess having to reserve a spot makes a rain date a bit of a challenge?  For instance, we could plan for the 2nd but have a rain date of the 16th or plan for the 16th and have a rain date of the 23rd?  Too complicated?  If so, that's cool.  Wanna keep it simple.

I only fit in on 9/2 or 9/30, and it sounds like 9/2, 9/16 works for everyone. So 9/2?

You have to click/select stuff until you get to the button labled "Show Available Shelters"

You have to enter the dates, then it lists the shelters, then you have to select the shelter group (like GLEN ARTNEY SHELTER #1, #10, #26 are always listed), then select the day, then click "show available shelters", and only then does it show which shelter of the group is available. Pretty screwy.

Looks like only site 1 is available for 9/2, it is near a bathroom and supports 20.  I don't know if site 1 is as good as the other sites...

The park is just off Route 1/Washington Blvd.  The entrance is not shown on the map below (it runs next to the river on the map), but its right off South St after you turn from Route 1:

Directions:

Avalon/Glen Artney/Orange Grove/Lost Lake Areas - From the Beltway (I-695) Take Rt. 1 (Exit 12-A) toward Elkridge. Follow Rt. 1 South about 3 miles to South St. Turn right. Park entrance is on the left.

From I -95 take I-195 to Rt. 1 (Exit 3) toward Elkridge to South St. Turn right. Park entrance is on the left.

From Howard County follow Rt. 1 through Elkridge and into Baltimore County. Turn left onto South St. Park entrance is on the left.

9/2 works for me.

The only unfortunate thing with a "rain date" is that once you rent the pavilion, you can cancel but they will charge a fee.

Okay, say we get the pavilion for $20. Does it sound fair to you guys if we split the cost of the rental? In other words, if we get 20 people, everyone pays $1. If we get 10 people, everyone pays $2 etc.

if i had time to get over there, id drop 20 right now, its a very small price to pay for parking for 20, when you go in the city and pay a dollar for an hour...

the 2nd is cool with me
