EEC Harness swap??

I'm swapping out my 88 TC's EEC harness, for an 88 5.0 harness.  I've got the harness disconnected from the ECM and the connections in the engine compartment are all disconnected too.  The harness is ready to remove, except for removing it from the rubber firewall grommet.  The harness that controls my PRC and other non-engine functions runs through that same grommet.  What's the easiest way to remove the EEC harness, now that I've got it almost ready to remove?  Carefully cut the grommet, so that I can remove the EEC harness I presume?
I'm surprised at how little room there is to get to the harness inside the car.  From reading posts on here.  I thought I'd have a lot more room to work with, once I removed the kick panel.
Any tips, or advice you guys could give me, would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

I splt the grommet and also the same with the 5.0 harness. Then reinstalled the 5.0 harness in the TC grommet. I needed a heater core anyway, so I had the plenum out of the car when I did mine. Piece of cake..

That must have been nice

I'll bet you did have a really easy time, without the heater core in the way.  It was a total pain in the butt for me since I didn't.  The PRC harness being in the way sure didn't help either.  Thanks for the help though.  I'm glad the harness is out now.  I just need to get the 5.0 harness from Claude, so I can start working on putting it in.
