supercharger from supercoupe? Reply #4 – July 23, 2006, 09:37:56 PM Tell him to prove it. Then watch him pick up pieces of his motor :DYes, the 3.8SC will bolt onto a normal 3.8. There are some subtle differences, but the hard points are the same. The problem is that the normal 3.8 isn't built to handle a supercharger and will very quickly grenade itself....Oh, and the 3.8 doesn't even have any fine points :D Quote Selected

supercharger from supercoupe? Reply #6 – July 23, 2006, 10:15:49 PM The other day I got out the chiltons manual and looked at the internal specs that are listed in the book. There are several differences. One being the rod journals are bigger. Also compression is 8.2 vs 8.7 in the regular 3.8. I'm sure it could be made to work but you would at minimum change the pully to reduce the boost. Even then the longevity of the motor would be greatly reduced. I'm wondering if the SC has iron or allum heads? Quote Selected
supercharger from supercoupe? Reply #7 – July 23, 2006, 10:23:17 PM As far as I know, at least through the SC period, they were all aluminum heads, cast iron blocks. Quote Selected
supercharger from supercoupe? Reply #8 – July 23, 2006, 10:32:39 PM yea thats it... someguy told me that since the two metals expand at different rates itll cause a blown head gasket. Quote Selected
