Header help

I just bought long Hedman headers for my cougar but they dont have a hole for the O2 sensor.  I have two sensors one for each side. My father is going to help me make a hole for them.  Does anyone know where I should put the hole for the O2 sensor?  I think at the end of the collector right before you connect the header to the reducer(if i put it there should it go on the top of it,under it on the side?).  I hear some say you can put them in the h pipe or near it.  If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

See if you can find something like these that will fit your car. It will make it easier and you won't have to drill into the header.

what kind of headers? does hedman make shorties? i ask because long tubes usualy dont have the provision for the o2 sensor. it goes into the h pipe. so when you buy your h pipe for long tube headers, its going to have 2 threaded holes for o2 sensors.  you'll have to also extend the wires, extensions can be bought, but i just sodlered and shrink tubed some extra wire in there. make sure its a good connection tho,

You have to be a little careful when moving the sensors that far away from the engine...they will have a tendency to run cooler and thus skew the readings...keep them as close to the primaries(in the collector) as you can...it would most likely be worth drilling and welding some O2 sensor bungs in.  I have yet to see long tubes without O2 sensor bungs in the collectors....

Nate...your Mac headers don't have O2 sensor bungs in them???  I've seen many that did.

The set I have don't have them in the header. Thats why I suggested the reducer that has them. I have a friend that tried to weld the bungs in and keft melting the bung. It could have been due to the welder being set too hot but....
