I still have the 7.5 with 2.73 from my '83 with the drum brakes. If you need something in a pinch just let me know, I am about three and a half hours one way from you.

When my brother and I swapped from the 85 7.5 to the 88 tc 8.8,we tried to use the axles,backing plates and all from the 85 7.5.The axles were too long just like in pic 2.Even had 1/2 in. to 3/4 in. of brake shoe showing.Went to the you pull it and grabbed some axles from an 84-86 fairmont/ltd.Everything slid together like it was meant to.
