Video editing question...

Is it possible to pull about 45 seconds from a 30min mepg with the software that is included with XP??? All I really want to do is save a small portion in a file, don't need to reburn a disc...

Hmmm...the way I understand it, an .mpeg (MPEG-2) file is an audio and video combined/compressed file. In other words, the audio and video are tied in together and cannot be extracted individually. It would have to be converted to another format first, then edited. This, at least, is the experience I've had with editing files via Quicktime. If it's an MPEG-4 (.m4p) then it can be extracted/edited directly. I don't know about any XP standard software that can help. Anyone else have ideas?

I believe it is a MEPG-2... I'm Probably screwed...

I can probably get the maker to pull a segment off it... I'll have to give him a shout...

There are ways to do it. Check out download.com and see if there is a free editor that works. All the ones I used to are hard to get now.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Check out VirtualDubMod.  It's free and will do it.  It has some amazingly complex features and its easy to get lost, but you should be able to figure it out enough to do what you want to do without much trouble.
