Mine was appraised at $4k two and a half years ago. The condition and low mileage (47k at the time) contributed to that value. Next spring, after I have done some mods to it (the chassis/suspension, interior, paint and hopefully, 5-speed swap) I will have it reappraised.

for insurance purposes. I'll have the report tomorrow or Monday.

Anyone else have their car appraised?

I had mine done a month ago to cover my ass. Basically, here in Ontario the vast majority of insurance companies are cracking down and won't touch anything modified for insurance thanks to the so called "street racing plague" that's drawing unwanted attention to the car hobby thanks to all the ricer kids that do their best Vin Diesel impressions in mom's Honda and kill somebody. Many of said companies will drop you for simply lowering your car or putting on aftermarket wheels. Now that the Bird is coming up on 20 years old I have the option of switching to a Collector/Hobby car specialty insurance company which bases coverage off a "No Depreciation appraisal" (similiar to the coverage offered by Hagerty which isn't available in Canada)

In a nutshell, I'm covered for just about every dollar I have in the car with the appraisal I got.

I'm going with Gary Steeves Insurance Company

Looks like my trip to pick up the base T-bird are off for this weekend. I couldn't get anyone to go with me on the 4 hour drive to drive back the Ranger. I'll try again next weekend.

I was talking to the appraiser on the phone today. The appraisal is ready for me to pick up. I asked the value and he said about $4500. Not bad since I was saying between 4 and 5K. I got to pick it up today. I'll post what it actually is later.

It looks like you've got a car in good, not quite pristine shape. What makes it worth $4000 USD?

NADA lists your car for a maximum of $2525
KBB lists your car for a maximum of $1610
Edmunds lists a maximum of $1683

I'm not trying to denigrate your car...just curious as to the difference.

PS Your link in post #14 doesn't work...maybe b/c I'm behind a company firewall...that could also explain why your pictures in post #26 don't work for me either.

I'm not sure what makes it worth that much. I've noticed around here cars are appraised at twice what they would sale for. Maybe it's because the insurance is based on the appraisal. The higher the appraisal the higher the insurance cost.

That could be. Also my link and pictures are using IP addresses rather than URLs
