Got to drive my TC the other day, after over a year

And let me say, 18psi in every gear is something to behold. Wow!

It seems my charging/draining problems had something to do with the positive battery cable being green with oxidization. Also, when my wife tried to take the car off the container, it wouldn't start. The tow truck, which was doing the removal, boosted it, and let it charge for about ten minutes, but when they pulled the booster cables off, the car promptly died. A few moments under the hood revealed the alternator was unhooked. That explains that part.

But I did get to drive it, with a new positive cable and battery, to my current residence. She's never flown so well. I never did get her in fifth, since the roads here don't really let you open it all the way up. I did hit 160 klicks though (100mph), in fairly short distance. Not much more than a quarter-mile, even though I had to let off a few times for dodging potholes (they call it the Marydale stretch, and was probably last paved when it got that name). Anyway, 'gillis' let me hit 18 in every gear. It's an '87 remember, so it had the ridiculous pulled boost in the top three gears, and this is my first time driving it with the controller on. The K&N cone let it spool a little bit quicker, but the main thing I noticed was how much louder the turbo was. And I've never heard the wastegate before when it was all stock. Now the car practically yelps when I take my foot out of it.

So what's next? ...................... anybody looking for an '87 TurboCoupe? :hick: Yes, the ol' girl and I have to part ways. She's just not a daily driver, and that's exactly what I need right now. The thing that hurts most is it'll probably end up going to someone who see's it as a very streamlined parts bin. What can you do?

No thread asking you guys to convince me one way or another. No long remorseful thread about how I'll loose the love of my life. I get to end it on a positive note. Which means I'll have to dail that 18psi back a bit if I want to drive it again.

That's not to say I won't get to build the TC I've always wanted........... someday. I'll just have to wait patiently for a car that doesn't come with a shopping list, and go from there.

What's that? (as if anyone actually asked). Oh, I'm not leaving the board. I know better than that. ;)

To bad you can't do a Carfax type thing on potential buyers. Though as long as you don't leave the boards the withdrawls won't be to bad.

Sorry to heard the news though. Hope it goes to a good home

shiznit, if you didn't just have it trained all the way to... where is it you live now?  I'd think about buying it.  However, I bet buying a car from another country would prove to be more hassle than it's worth.  It does look like a very nice car, though.  I'd love to own it.  Then again, I'd also like to be debt free before I buy a third car.

I'd hit it, Oldraven, except I've gotta get rid of the Swedish shiznitbox before I even consider another car...

Well, until I find something I know I can afford as a replacement, there will be no for sale sign going up. And Thunder Chicken, I still intend on getting those lights from you. I'd rather sell it complete. But the bottom line is, I don't sell it until I know I'm getting something new within the week. I'd rather keep her than be stuck with nothing at all, and a little bit of cash.

It will probably be a few months, anyway. Ange's Jeep got T-boned a few weeks ago, and somehow the guy's insurance thinks they can escape paying for anything. It was a dirt road and I was about 90% in our new driveway (we were there to meet the surveyor) when He hit us. The accident actually happened in our driveway, and it's somehow not his fault. He claims he was passing us, but at the time he was apologizing and talking forms of payment, not asking why we pulled out in front of him. (he was behind us, and we were turning left) We even got quotes for him, before anyone filed the accident with insurance, to do a guy a favour in case he could afford to pay out. Now he was passing us? There's one Nova Scotian heading west that I hope doesn't come back. He'll fit right in with Alberta drivers.

So no new car until we know if we have to pay for the repairs.

One step forward........... right into a steaming pile of dogshiznit.

Rest assured, when it does go up for sale, I'll post here first. I'd love to see someone here give her the treatment I couldn't.

*edit*
Oh, I forgot. I'm in Nova Scotia now. (the near/far east, but not the grover one) I know lots of fellows who buy cars in the States all the time. It's easier, in some cases, if transportation isn't an issue. I don't think it would be that different going the other way.

Ok - I have one of my other sets on eBay and was gonna ask you if you were still interested in these ones (counting the ones in the car I've got four sets - nothing like ding :D)

So the guy was passing you on a dirt road and T-boned you when you were turning into your driveway, and the guy's insurance company thinks they're not responsible? Since when were you allowed to pass on a dirt road anyway???

A friend of the family was nearly killed by a guy doing that several years ago. He was turning left and the guy went to pass him, and hit him square in the driver's door, HARD. The guy was found at fault...

So is the Cherokee a write-off? They're pretty cheap to buy around here...

Huge difference, Getting a canadian car in to the states is next to impossible. I've seen the subject discussed many times on the sprint forums as the 89-up turbo models werent available down there and people want them...

Like I said, it's going to be a bit before I can sell it. This Cherokee business has to be figured out before I sell the car, because I don't want to have the T-bird end up financing repairs.

The repair quotes were $4 and $3 grand. If they did cover it, I'd expect they would write it off.

Ange and I have to get to work on a client's house, so I'll post pics of the carnage later.
