update - ish...

so....the tbird has been listed locally. i listed it for what i think is reasonable for it. 1600. thats what i originally paid for it 3 or 4 years ago. ill let it go if i get that for it even though i realy dont want too. i feel like a frickin lost child. im in the middle of the road with this thing. i love the car but i love the mustang as well. i have so manny parts stored for the tbird its redonculous. M-2300-k 5 lug/big cobra brake swap, bullit suspension,MM bushings isolators sfc, cc plates etc., cobra front arms, adjustable CHEs, aje tubular k member, tranny (weather it be the T45 the mustang has or the T56), low mile 4.6 dohc engine, un assembled rear diff....all kinds of . it would have been an easier decision on what to do with this stuff if the mustang didnt allready have almost all of it already. i know how much time i put into penny pinching this stuff together. i also know how much of a pita it is too sell stuff. people are so  cheep, like myself.

on one hand, i could try to sell/recoupe the money i spent on this stuff and either buy some cool stuff for the stang or pay off some debt.

on the other, i could put it all into the tbird and be somewhat close to having a running modular fox tbird. realistically, id still be thowsands away with paint and loose ends to deal with. id have to sh@ or get off the pot with what to do about an ignition. the distributor conversion would work fine. DIS would be cooler though. in the end, id still be looking at 290 HP at the crank in a heavy car. the stang puts more than that to the rear wheels. i cant say id be all that happy with that after all the money, time and effort.

another option with keeping the bird would be to drop a warmed over 5.0 HO in there along with the suspension, brakes, rear diff, etc i got for it and call it a day.

the gears are grinding in my head with plans on modding the stang. i wanted to keep it stock, but i just cant see it hapening. im already looking at droping the T56 into it (its just sitting here anyway) with a 03-04 aluminum cobra flywheel/clutch setup. the rear bumper on the stang needs to be freshened up as it had been tapped in the rear. im thinking either an 01 cobra bumper or an 03. the 03 has a nice cleen, smooth look to it. i may just keep the one i have (its not a cobra realy anyway) and paint between the louvers and tail pipes semigloss black to go along with the mach1 shaker and spoiler. i think it would look sweet. i also want to get rid of the ugly ass rolled tips. they just dont do it for me. i also plan on a catted midpipe. its got a flomaster catback (i generally hate flo's but they have grown on me) and ceramic coated shorty headers. id also like to install a fluidamper ballancer and some underdrive pullies, jlt cai, gears (maybe, its got the stock gt 327s now) and maybe a tuner. other smalish stuff. deffinetly a system. hopefully some mach1 seats or something different than the sucky gt seats. the TC seats blow them away to hell...

i dream of HPs stage 1 turbo setup and a forged bottom end. it would cost more than the car. a procharger would be a more reasonable and possible rought.

so, what do you all think i should do. i know how most of you feel about stangs. you also know how similar they are to the fox tbird (ore vise versa). even the sn95 looks alike. i wouldnt have picked this up if it was just another gt or such a sweet deal. its somewhat different and i love it. the instand gratification alone was worth picking it up. i was realy getting itchy staring at my parts and the tbird all the time. but now, even my wife calls me a sell-out. all i know is it would be unreasonable to do both and have either one of them be realy sweet. im still saving for a house and paying all the typical bills ect..... WWYD?

Get one of those tent garages, toss it over the tbird, and get to work. You have a bunch of stuff you could get working on without spending much if any money and a DD stang so You dont have to rush your work and you can do it right....

Then again i'm in the same boat with my turbo sprint vs the tbirds, their field bound while I'm blowing a bunch of time and some money on the sprint, Better bang for the buck, upgrades are cheaper, parts in general are cheaper and easier to find and the car is just plain more fun. What I do know for fact is that I WILL NOT get rid of the tbird, I just cant, I could sell them easily, theres a couple guys been bugging me about them for a year or so but its just not going to happen.

I say find storage for the tbird somewhere it will be safe and will not rust away and just wait till the time is right to start on it, it will come eventually.

i wish i could DD the stang. with only 18k on the cobra engine/drivetrain/suspension and brake swap and other mods, id like to keep the miles low. i dont feel right submitting it to the abuse of a daily commute. im also in commercial construction so i tend to be on the dirty side after work. i kept my ranger for the DD. my sister said i could keep the tbird at her house for awhile so i may take the offer. if somebody decides to snag it up than so-be-it. the wife is pretty adiment about only having one toy car, but i think that once i clear a few bills and pay off the stang it wouldnt be a big deal. i cant realy decide on weather or not id like to have the stang, and the tbird maintained as decent cars, or bag the whole tbird thing and put all my eggs in one basket.

Oh snaps, after seeing those wheels next to the Bird my imagination is taking off! I think the Bird complete will look ten times better than the Stang simply because it is more unique. A Stang is a Stang but hardly anyone recognizes these cars anymore. How much would you sell for with everything (installed) but the Mod Engine/Trans Swap?

Well you have to do whats practical in my opinion. You have a family to support so you have to do whats financially more practical. How much do you owe on the stang, are you having trouble making payments? If you owe a reasonable amount and can afford it no problem, I say keep it. The reason I say keep it is because if you decide to sell it later down the road, you can get money out of it. Now with the tbird, you could spend the money to get it the way you want it, but youd pretty much take a loss if you ever are in a bind and need to sell it. Unless you have a real emotional attachment to the car(and even then you have to think common sense) I wouldnt go dumping large sums of money into the bird, especially when that could go to a down payment on a house. Again when you have a family to support, the money sucking hobbies have to be put on the back burner, not totally abandoned though. Finally, maybe talk it over with the wife, let her know how much money the bird will take, how much time it will take, and make a joint decision. And see how the bird measures up in the priority level compared to a house, living expenses, etc. Of course most on this site wont agree with me, but I did warn that this was a voice of practicality.

I am somewhat in the same boat as you, although I tell myself I cant spend anymore money on the bird, I still do. Course Im single :D

You could put all those eggs(parts) in my basket(car)...lol.  Sounds like a tough decision...It would be frickin' sweet to have a mod motored, t-56 equipped 'Bird though.  Good luck with your decision making.

thanks guys. the payment on the stang is pretty minimal. im into it for about 80% of what its average retail is as a stock mustang gt and owe about 3/4 of that. not bad if you consider its basically a cobra now. thats how i justified buying it to begin with. i wasnt realy even looking at the time. its not much of an issue thank god. if i ditched the bird im sure id spend alot on the stang. the wife wants me to be happy with it and move on with my life...without a "project car" such as the tbird. i realy cant blame her. i house would be nice and we are working on that. i still cant see it hapening within the next 2 or 3 years though. probably i longer if i cant keep the car stuff under control.....lol a nice little house with a garage would be fricken nice though. how does one do it all? i see all kinds of people with a new homes, a frickin new yukon, new maxima, kids, dogs, picket fences and ride on lawn mowers....how do these people do it!

Usually one of two ways...both parents work and make pretty decent cash. Although in this case usually they lack any real time for parenting. The other way is called credit, and they really dont own anything and are in debt to their ears. Neither of which I would want.

I would say sell the stang. Just for the purpose, that the Tbird will always be there, you can tinker with it whenever, and You are bound to get more money out of the Stang, especially since it is almost new. All of that money could go to your house/car/whatever. Depends what you want more. I dont blame you either way. I have had to part with cars.

Get rid of the 'Bird man.  Like you said, the 'Stang already has all of those parts on it that you want to put on the bird.  I would just cut my losses and sell it.  It's too much work to get it the way you want it anyway.

man stick with your dream, dont just abandon things that wouldnt be any fun. most of us here want to see that mod bird take off..  if you did build it and get everything running good it would be worth more than just a stock bird..  people would flock over it on ebay with it being different.

Wow....so i just added up a quick list of what i have into the car NOT including the modular stuff or the T56 stuff. wholy shiznite! :barf: ive never realy looked back at the spending that went into it. its kind of shocking how you can get kind of carried away like that. i did VERY little if no over spending as well. i could never recoupe that ammount even if it was running complete WITH the modular swap and T56. at least i dont think so. borderline anyway. makes the halfbreed cobra a much sweeter deal than i originally thought, if you base it on the tbird.
