88 XR7 351W T-5 swap?

hey guys i have a few questions, i just got my 88 XR7 5.0 Auto, i want to swap in a 351W outta like a 1990+ Ford F-250 pickup,

I would like to keep it EFI, my car is obviously not mass air would that effect keeping it a speed density with a 351w? do i retain my factory harness and computer? obivously i think my motor mounts line up, are there any sites that go over a 351 EFI swap in a speed density equiped car. Any extra help would be great guys i appreciate it!

I have done this in a stang. Use the F4TE 351w engine from the F-150.250,350. Crown vic oil pan and pickup from a mid 80's 351w,Swap headers(short or long)will need a 351w lower intake and upper from FRPP,Trick Flow ect, moded the fuel rail, use the 351w efi dizz with the TFI on the side and don't forget to swap the dizzy gear from your 5.0L,65mm or bigger TB, 351w swap flywheel or the same mid 80's 5.8L crown vic flexplate and a FRPP a/c or power steering pump bracket. You also may have to shim the crank pulley. I used some washers behind the pulley.Worked great.
Catch me on mercurycaprirs@hotmail.com if you need more info or parts.
1988 Thunderbird Sport. Work in Progress
5.8L swap w/fitech efi, 4R70W swap w/quick 4 controller, 2003 GT rear diff, 5 Lug swap

Bought this car back as an old project car.

You really need to go to a mass air setup... The 351 shares firing orders with the 5.0 HO so a MA Stang EEC is the way to go.

OR at the very least you need to swap to a SD Stang/LSC HO processer that uses the 19lb injectors. Likely it would be lean at WOT, but an adjustable F/P regulator will help to a degree. No way you can use the original EEC and 14lb injectors.

I've never seen it done, but possibly you could use a truck processor. Likely it would require more wiring changes than converting to a mass air setup. I believe all the SD truck EECs are batch fire. Meaning they only have two injector drivers and fire four injectors at once.

The 351 EFI intake is going to be the expensive part... NO car type uppers will bolt to the POS 351 lower that Ford uses on the trucks...
AFIK the GT40/Lightning unit is the ONLY one that will(barely)fit under a stock hood.

Untill you start doing some research on the net, you're way in over your head...

EEC= Computer.... NO YOU CANNOT REUSE YOUR ORIGINAL, yes you can reuse the harness(wiring changes are necessary to convert to mass air)... You cannot use the 5.0 flywheel, 5.8 and 5.0 are ballanced differently.

I believe Eric has most of the info on the Cool Cats site...

thanks alot for the info guys, im debating whether or not to go with a 5.0HO or the windsor, the windsor is a far more capable motor in my opinion and stock HP is well worth the hasstle for a conversion. for now im gunna stick with the basics of the car, im gunna do the frame support, and at least have a 5 spd swap done by the summer

I was about to sell my car but i think im guna end up keeping it because im not really getting the type of interest i was looking for
