jenkins6586,
man, i can certainly relate.  about five years ago i had an '88 turbo coupe that had already turned into a money pit.  i was also going home from the girlfriend's (now wife's) house down a dark country road when i saw three deer out of the corner of my eye just step off the road in front of me.  i had just enough time to think "whoa, that was close", when the fourth one came across just a few steps behind.  i never had a chance to hit the brakes from about 70 mph.  kablooie!  it shattered the header panel and driver's lights and buckled the driver's fender.  i never even went back to find the deer.  i wasn't sure i'd want to have seen it anyway.  i did get away without any hood damage, though.  i had a heck of a time finding any t-birds in the salvage yards, and for sure nobody had a turbo coupe.  this was before i knew about ebay or these kind of discussion pages online to find parts.  i finally quit asking for turbo coupe parts and was willing to take anything that would fit.  i finally got somebody who had a good front end on an '88 cougar (totally wrong) and i said, ok, i'll take it.  i got to the salvage yard and was headed for the cougar when i saw a dark red turbo coupe with no body damage.  i said "you didn't tell me you had a turbo coupe", to which he said "you didn't ask about a turbo".  well, i told what parts i needed, a fender, a header panel, the bumper cover, driver's headlight assembly, and a foglight.  he said, "i can only sell you the whole front clip or nothing, and that will be $500, or you can have the whole car for $800".  i said i didn't want the whole car or the whole front clip, just what i asked for.  he made a big deal about going to the manager and asking special permission, and came back and said i could have what i wanted for $400.  i said ok.  of course they were the wrong color (my car was dark blue, and the donor was dark red), but i had found the only turbo coupe donor within 100 miles.  i got shafted.  i drove the car a while longer with the patchwork body parts and knew it looked goofy, but i wasn't worried about a paintjob for a while.  then before long the good ole' a4ld tranny went poof, then while towing it home with my truck, a drunk 16-year old turned in front of me and wham, i lost my daily driving '97 f150 and the bird.  i had dumped so much money in the bird, now it had a fried tranny and was totalled (which didn't take much considering its age and mileage).  when the adjuster finally met me to cut me a check, i had over $3000 in the car and could have never gotten my money back any other way.  he asked if $3600 would be sufficient.  i said, yes, i think it will.

sorry for the long-winded story.  i just like to tell it every now and then.  at least you have the benefit of this forum for resources that i didn't, which will help a lot.  good luck with the repairs.  i'd help you if i could, but my cougars are an '83 and an '84.

oh, by the way, my wife's maiden name is jenkins.  i thought that was cool.

Ouch, sorry to see that.
As far as getting the car repainted, you could stop by Maaco. Their work ishiznit or miss however I do hear if you prep the car yourself and purchase your own paint, they do a good job.

hmm that sucks. I hate that feeling right before you slam on the brakes.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

The more deer we harvest every fall, is that many less that may cause a collision...and it's good meat, too! :giggle:

Anyway, hope ya get it back together soon :D
