Need help quick please!!

Hey guys,

I just recently purchased an HO upper intake for my 5.0 SO. I brought it in and it has the egr spacer still on it. I noticed the size seems like the old 50 MM so I compared it to my old throttlebody and it almost seems to match right up. This intake didn't come with the HO plate on top either, it didn't have any plate on it. My question is did they sell me just any old plain SO upper intake? Is the inlet port on an HO upper intake noticably larger than the SO? Or is it more on the inside where the difference is? the part number stamped on the bottom is

"RF-F0AE-9425-A19B"

I'd hate to rip all into this and it be the same part I already have.

Thanks in advance!!

just called the guy back. Apparently they sold me one off of a crown vic. The guy had the nerve to tell me "We don't go by inlet sizes and bores, just by what fits, and I don't know what invention you're trying to make, but that part fits. And then he said that they don't do returns and just give instore credit. I told him "You guys don't give returns when you sell the wrong part? I don't appreciate your attitude and it is the wrong part. You can put an thunderbird 5.0 intake on a mustang and it will fit perfectly but that doesn't make it the right part, its not for an HO motor." So now he says he'll give me my money back. I hate buying car parts! Everytime its this same  thing. Murphy's law be ed!:giggle:

The inlet size is indeed noticeably larger on an HO upper.  Also under the intake plate on the manifold itself the letters "HO" are stamped.  This person you deal with sounds like he doesn't know anything about 5.0's or most car parts for that matter.  Sounds like he just knows how to type in part #'s into a copmuter to find a substitute part.  Find someone a little more knowledgeable.  It will get rid of your headaches.

I just got back from returning the part and explaining to the guy the difference between an HO and SO 5.0... Gave me a refund thankfully. they didn't seem to happy about any of this. i literally heard one guy behind the counter say to another while trying to decide what to do "its just 35 bucks, do we want to **** with it or no?" YOU SOLD ME THE WRONG PART, END OF STORY.

I've only ever found one guy in town that new what was up, was a good mechanic, and gave you a good deal. He and his shop were gone in no time and replaced by "impersonal overpriced care care 'R' us."

Well so much for finding an HO upper intake locally. I wanted to avoid the whole ebay type thing and just have the part in my hands the same day. For 35 bucks it had to be too good to be true.

Its not that I need one really bad, its just that its the first time in a few years I've actually had the money to go to my car so I was just like 'wow cool I guess I'll get back to buying a few conversion parts.' But yeah man, if you can help me locate one I'd sure appreciate it. I need that, the heads, and cam. I've got everything else left over from when I started gather parts in 03.

Swipe one from a Lincoln Mk VII. Same as Mustang and may be easier to locate in a jy.

I hate when people who work with parts and so forth don't know the difference between the SO and HO. Just like the idiot at the Ford dealer who told me an HO wouldn't work in my car.

Out of curiousity, how much better are the gt40 upper and lower? A few HP gain, or just bragging rights? I'm still gathering parts for the conversion, so would it be too much until then?
