11 inch front brakes-underway

Yes, as the title says i'm doing the 11" brakes now...what i mainly had a question about is what kinda semi-performance oriented pads would y'all recommend?
Car is (going to be) a twice or thrice weekly driver, and don't plan on any kinda of track driving in the forseeable future. But it will be intended for "spirited" driving.

Course, after the shiznitty 10" brakes, and leaky line, the new set-up will probably feel like an Indy car, :giggle:
Anywho, I'd like something that stops well, and doesn't wear out too quick...lay the opinions on me! :D

I bought a set of Satisfied Pro Ceramics for about $45 on partsamerica.com. Never installed them though but the box was pretty. :D

If I can remember who I sold them to I will ask how they performed.

go and buy new calipers. Go to advance auto, ask for some 90 Lincoln LSC calipers. There will be two options, phenolic piston and steel piston. Order the steel piston ones.

Then hop over to maximum motorsports, and buy some stainless steel caliper bushings.

Ive been running Satisfied GR5 pads, and they do great for me...but i turn like a maniac.

The tip I have for you..
 
You will have to use the fitting on the hard line off of the TC.  on the drivers side only

On sunday, i'll be tearing the old stuff out...i'll take the fitting from my TC and use it...thanks man :bowdown:

I did buy the adaptors as mentioned in coolcats tech section, but they won't work...I'll see how it goes, and let y'all know...

The TC calipers i'm gonna use till i get the money to get the Linc pieces..i know i shouldnt put uses calipers on, but it's just to be able to move tha car around and stuff, it hasnt been on the road in 3 months now...

When I got my parts I didn't unsrew the hoses.. I just removed the clips and broke the lines off, taking the fittings from both sides.. didn't need the passanger side.. but I cut off the driver side and reflared the fitting I took from the junkyard.

Can you explain this Claude? Do the base model cars use thes 7/16's on the passanger side, and 3/8 on the drivers side, or do they use the same fittings on each side?

The base cars use the same size fitting on both sides that the TC uses only on the passanger side.  I'm not sure of sizes but the fitting the TC uses on the driver side is larger than the other side.

not just base, anything with the 10" brakes even sports and xr7s.

So they use a pair of 3/8's fittings. Very interesting. Glad i found this out before i got on my red bird. Id be pissed.

well, i got a pair of brake hoses for a Stang V8, and both the fittins are the same size, although the guy at the parts store said one was different. I can see the diff., but it isnt the size...
Claude, i took the fittings off my TC, but it doesnt look like I'll need either, but I could be wrong (probably am)

I havnt yet pulled the old hoses off my V6 car...but will probably tackle it really soon...like here in a few hours...although i'm tempted to hold off for a bit so i can get the LSC calipers and some kickass pads, and ball joints, dont think mine are all that bad, but if i'm right there, might as well get new ones.

Fox mustang lines will work up front as long as the size of the fittings is the same, which it should be.

well, one snag right off....the fittings are frozen to the lines...i've been soaking the hell out of 'em with WD-40 (all ive got here right now)

if worse comes to worse, and they won't budge, i'll have to cut the lines, and re-flare them, although I'm not good at that...
Would it be safe to use some heat from a propane torch on it?...very carefully of course, i know how flammable brake fluid is!! :hick:

other than that, and the lack of brake pads till day after tomorrow, it's all but done...thanks guys...:D
