Strange noise in the suspension, I think!

Well, I've been having a problem getting the exhaust the way I wanted.  It was making a weird noise when I'd go over a bump or had 2+ in my car.  I poked my head around the the car last week and had noticed the right ler was literally rubbing the fuel filter bracket 100% all the time.  Took it to the exhaust shop today. The guy moved the ler down about 1/2 an inch so now I've got some breathing room.  It's still making a weird type of banging noise.  Now I've checked my rear control arm bushings are they are pretty shot!!! I'm going to replace them with after market control arms. Do you think this is the cause of the banging noise, or?!?! Any suggestions guys?!??  Also, has anyone relocated their fuel filter/bracket on an '85 TC?  I'm thinking about moving mine to the outside of the passenger frame rail so I can tuck my ler up higher next to the driveshaft on both sides!!  I'm tired of sing everything I go over!!!!!!

well the control arm bushings need to be done anyhow, but im pretty sure i rember reading before that on the 86 and below you need to move that fuel filter to the other side of the rail to clear exhaust.

Yeah, that's what I was looking at last night when I was peaking. If I relocate it to that side, I'll have plenty of clearance for the ler and I'll be able to tuck them up higher so I don't hit every bump I go over!
