Anybody know about alternators for the 5L 1987 Anniv XR7? I have
100W halogens in the front as well as halogen taillights, AC power for computers, cell phone and iPod charging, plus under-seat lighting, etc and think perhaps I should have a bigger alternator. The rebuilt 70A unit I installed s out all the time.
PS: Anyone have a steering wheel and temperature control unit?

welcome to the board!
First.. we needs pics.. the the user rides section, we get restless with out pics!! :P

second, there are larger alternators you can use, 100A and I believe 130A, your's is definately too small.
my brain isn't working right now, window's scripting is making my IQ drop as we speak, I'm sure another kind sole can get you better info, but they are replacement mustang alternators and bolt right in with a bit of wire shinanigans.

check the for sale section, lots of parts in there, or post in the wanted section as people are selling parts all the time.

for alot of good info you can also check out:

I would definately check into getting a 3g alt. I do belive one for a 94-95 5.0 mustang bolts up, I am not positive on that though. With I could help you out more.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

3g all the way.
Got a 200amp HO unit for 100.00 bucks a few years ago off of ebay.
Wiring is pretty easy and all you have to do is trim alittle off the bracket with a dremel.
