Hellp Me Make A Discision

alrighty.  I am going to buy a new engine for my birthday BUT, im having a VERY hard time desciding which one I should pull.
At a local junk yard they have a 1989 lincoln Mark VII HO Speed density.  I know that they made 225 hp stock.
Also they Have a 1993 Mercury cougar XR7 HO Mass air.
I also know that that peticular engine made 200 HP stock.
I am planning on using the heads cam and intake off the engine I pull on my 88 SO engine, while I get the new block bored out and freshened up.  Which would be my best bet?  I need to descide asap.
Im going the new cam route once I get the block set up, also Ill get the heads and intake ported.

what do you all think?

:iagree: The XR7 also uses a curved intake manifold like the 94-95 mustangs.  That won't fit your engine bay quite right.  Also I am not sure the mass air from the XR7 will even work in your car since you have a different wiring harness - might be wrong on that though.  Finally, I wouldn't bother changing the heads and intake on your S.O.  How long will it take to get the other block freshened up?  You will just end up changing everything twice.
Foxless :(

i'd go with the linc engine then. if it's in good shape you will be ahead with it having the forged pistons. it also has a decent cam being it's the same exact engine as the 87-92 stangs.

the linc engine will have a few more sensors than the other ho's also the 93 ho will not fit inbetween the fenders right. but keep the so in the car then take the ho and freshen that up then change it when you have that ho ready. also the harness will work with the h0 but the timing will be different. look up on the cool cats site for more info.

id pull the lincoln engine and build that up if it checks out okay. rplace your 88 sports 5.0 with that all together.

the 93 cougars engine does indeed have the 93 cobra cam. same part number.

The ONLY differences with the MN12 and the Fox 5.0's is the upper intake, exhaust manifolds, and the front end accessories. There is no reason for an MN12 5.0 to not fit.
It's Gumby's fault.

if i remember correctly there are a few emissions sensors on the lincoln engine that our fox cars don't use.
