Yep definitely looking into getting a loan

Yep the cougar is misfiring, so its looking like im going to be looking into a loan through Ford or my bank or credit union. Its not only the fact that its misfiring that is erking me its the fact that every six months something goes wrong with the  thing. So im looking into a focus Zx3.

Repairs every 6 months, huh. I was having daily to weekly trouble with my car when I decided to buy new. As a matter of fact, I was on the way to the dealership to look at cars and I was trying to merge on the beltway and my car started acting up. I was almost hit pretty good since traffic was moving at 65+ and I couldn't go over 45 to merge. I'm telling you, it sucks to go in debt but there's nothing like a new car.

Good luck!

Yeah that is pretty rediclious but considering my engine has 50k on it shiznit like this should not be happening , or at least thats my opinion. Seeing as i have only been at krogers for about 1 month now im sure nobody will give me a loan so i will have to wait a bit and just bite the  bullet.

Well, don't say nobody would give you a loan. I was working at my job for a little over 3 months and managed to get a loan.

It's the interest rate you have to watch out for.

Why not tell us more about whats going on with the cougar. The last thing you want to do is walk into a car dealer thinking you have to buy something and not having time to shop around and get a good deal.

If you just want to buy new than so be it, but don't blame it on the cougar cause these engines are soooo cheap to repair and keep running expecially if you only have 50k miles on a fresh block...

Let me get this straight, you are going into debt to get a new reliable car? That's good. I drive a Nissan truck so I actually have reliable wheels. But you're getting a FORD FOCUS???? It's the world's MOST recalled car ever. That's #1, in the history of the world, for biggest piece of . ANY car would be more reliable then one of those POS's.

Let me tell you something that you might not already know. ALL car salesman are after one thing only and thats YOUR money. They don't care about you and your needs are. And some are soooooooo good at that after they bend you over evey which way...you wind up thanking them for it... NO DEALER IS LOOKING TO TAKE CARE OF ANYONE, THEY WANT TO TAKE CARE OF TAKING THE MOST $$ THEY CAN OFF OF YOU. PERIOD... SHOP AROUND MAKE THEM COMPETE ITS YOUR ONLY ADVANTAGE.

To give you an example. I went to Circuitcity to buy a tv. It was $3150 on sale. Ok I ask the salesman what can you do with the price, he comes back and says he can't take off any money. I goto bestbuy and tell the guy circuitcity is going to cut a nice deal on the set for me.. I tell the salesman to get me his best price. Salesman comes out 5min later and says he can let it go for $3000. I tell him too bad I have $2900 and I'm ready to buy, I guess I should goto circuitcity. He turns to me and says I think I can do it for that. 5 mins later I'm paying $2899 for the set and I just saved $250...

So basically it was like this, I lied to him, he lied to me, and than I made him think he lost the sale... and THAN I got what I wanted.

Also please don't take any of these posts the wrong way... the guys here just don't want to see anyone get burned.. ;)

Notice that there are already 11 TSB's on the 06's and 33 TSB's on the 05's. The model is 6 years old and they still can't fix it. Pick any other Ford, because this one is NOT reliable. In 2000 (the first year), you'll see 79 TSB's, 12 of which are recalls, and NINE campaigns. That's your record holder right there.

On another note, the 88 Cougar racked up 118 TSB's, but only 1 recall. http://www.alldata.com/TSB/36/88360401.html That page makes the Coug look BAD. :(

Just for reference, here is my Nissan truck's single recall: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls/results.cfm And it's single TSB: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/tsb/results.cfm

While most car salesman are after your money, there are some that still care about the customer. Especially if that customer brings in more customers. It is a basic referral system. Since your family has had dealings with the same salesman, he will most likely be fine for you. My grandfather had the same salesman for 20 years and he always got good deals. Granted that was in the 50's-70's.

My salesman was great. I went in knowing what I wanted and wouldn't accept anything but that. Pricing wasn't that much of a big deal since my dad had some pretty good incentives through his employer that I was able to use. My experience was great too in that the salesman really worked to get me a loan at a fair interest rate.

As far as buying a Focus. Nothing against that. There will always be problems with any new car. My el cheapo Hyundai has it's fair share of problems, but big woop its all covered under warrenty. I don't know of any new car that hasn't had something wrong with it.
