wiring question

Ok I know theres quite a few people who have done the 5.0 swap in their cars. It seems to be one of the most done swaps short of the T-5 swap. I got a harness from a 90's mustang and from what I can tell theres 2 big round plugs on it that wont plug into anything due to the shape of the plug. On of them is for the O2 sensors the other is for some guages or something according to www.fordfuelinjection.com . My question is where do these go? I know the one for the O2 sensors its pretty much a given I'm going to either have to mod the new harness or mod the O2 sensor harness on the motor so they connect. What do I do with the other one? I already have temp senders and stuff in the injector harness what do I do with these? Also theres a small round plug in the part of the harness that goes to the coil. it has 2 connectors in it, not the one that connects to the battery cable, the other one, what does it connect to? My other question is what all in the factory V6 harness can I remove I have a few plugs that hooked to the motor off of the body harness like the oil pressure and AC wires do I need any of the wires that originally hooked to the engine or is that what the harness I'm having trouble locating a match for goes to? Oh and an extremely dumb question when they say left O2 sensor is that the driver side?

My opinion is to take the o2 sencor off another mustang and mod it into working for your harnes your gona put in.

the last question is a cinch,,,,, left is driver side.
The normal orientation of left is driver and right being pass side.  If you ever forget,, just have a seat behind the wheel,, thats the way all the manuals are written.

the other questions,, they would be much less difficult to reply if you jotted down wire colors and also leave out the connections to which you already know what they go to.

Yes jcassety is right but remeber always have masking tape with wires marked where they go before you cut !!!

Yeah the masking tape idea would have been nice but the harness was bought off ebay so I didn't remove it from a car.
On the driver side being left I thought so but wasn't sure.
As far as which one's I don't know at all. The little round one by the coil. It's located on the driver side down by the battery.
There's a portion of the harness that goes to the coil. the part of the harness also has the ground wire that connects to the negative battery cable.
I'm not sure on the wire colors someone seems to have painted them black at one time. It's a little round plug with 2 connectors in it.
There is also a single wire here as well is it a power wire from the coil or is it a ground?

The other plug is on the passenger side Its one of the great big round plugs with a bunch of wires. According to fordfuelinjection.com ,they should be colored as follows,
w/r OIL PSI GUAGE , r/g PWR TO ECC RELAY/TFI , w/p GND FOR PIN30 AT ONLY , r/lb +12 START FOR TFI , t/y TACHOMETER , r/w ENGINE TEMP GUAGE , g/r SIG-RTN FOR PIN 30 MT ONLY,p/y NDS PIN 30. I'm not sure where this plug goes.

There is also a square green one that from the diagram looks like a fuel pump plug mainly here's the wires for it.w/r Low oil sender I don't have so this one shouldn't be there.
the rest I'm not sure. g/y HEGO PWR, p or r AC ON FROM DASH,dg/y FUEL PUMP PWR/ FUEL PUMP MONITOR PIN 19 ,pk/o VSS-, g/bk VSS + ,pk/g CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.
On the square green one its down in the foot well next to the computer.I'm sure its what runs my fuel pump it also has a HEGO/ OS sensor power wire as well as the check engine and VSS wires I'm not sure where to get these wires from.

The one for the O2 sensors is SUPPOSED to be wire colored as followed LB/Y MANUAL, LB/Y NDS PIN 30, GY/BL L HEGO , W/PK LOW OIL SENDER, LB/YAUTO, BK/W HEGO GROUND,R/BK R HEGO , G/Y HEGO PWR. How's that for telling which wires I need?:D

maybe i got lost to,, was just trying to be as polite as possible but to be honest, ive been gone so long, im not familiar with your specs.

im lost as to what you are doing,, from what engine to what engine ect ect.  your sig says a 5.0 is going in place of a 3.8.  I was gonna post up some of my evtm stuff for you but im kind mixed up.  the wires you say are painted black,,,,???,, peel back the wire grommet and you'll find the colors.  I mean,, how in the world are you gonna know unless you get the colors right.

How is your swap going? Just wondering cause you might have better luck using a cougar/tbird v8 harness as opposed to the mustang one.
1987 Tbird 5.0 swap, go fast mods coming soon....

Ok edited it some more not sure it helps I'm kinda confusing myself with it so I'm sure everyone reading is just about as lost. Its one of those things that are definitely easier to show instead of explain.

On the specs the car had a 3.8 V6 with AOD. We're swapping in a 5.0 and still using the AOD.
The harness is out of a 90's mustang I'm not sure exactly which 90's but I do know its for a 5.0. And on how I'm gonna get it right, hope that by some miracle the plug position is right :D

As far as how the swap is going, I would say pretty good considering. This wiring is being a pain though. As far as using a V8 harness for a T-Bird or cougar my funding hashiznit O on how much I have to spend right now.
An easy question where is the connector closest to the computer that runs the fuel pump?
Is there one or do I need to run a new wire to it?
I think if I can get fuel flowing to the motor I can find out about the rest fairly easy.
No guarantees on that though I'll probably end up back here a couple minutes after I try and fire it up.

I'm almost as lost as I was when I posted this lol.
I'm guessing the big blue rectangle down the middle is the computer correct?

OK who wants to come wire my car for me?

yeah,, it says so on the diagram

you cant be lost,, print these out and do a stare and compare on your engine harness(s).  If your not use to schematics,, its kind intimidating but just understand that this is the start and end point of each wire and is exactly what you need.  If your not sure about what all the other little parts are in the car like TPC, ISC, MAP ect ect,, then yeah, i understand why you are lost and you should back up a few hundered steps and become familiar with the components first and identify them in your car.

i have the 3.8L engine eec harness diagram also if that is helpful.

Another thing,, a cold beer might help as well:hick:

yeah I understand how to read schematics, as well as know what the parts are called.
The problem I seem to be running into though is this.
For instance on the O2 sensors correct me if I'm wrong here.
Its showing 3 wires coming out where mine only have 1?
and I think my harness has more wires then that it sure looks like alot more coming out of the computer.
