used car prices

Ok guys and gals I was messing around on the net (imagine that) and I was looking at used birds. I kept seeing all these that were like 4 to 12 thousand bucks for the car. Then I got to thinking  I just picked my brown one up for a grand total of like 400 bucks after everything was taken care of.So I got to thinking maybe the motor not running had to have alot to do with it.
Anyway after that I searched for places to give values on our cars to see exactly how overpriced these cars were I was looking at. There were no models of our cars that are worth even 3000 bucks  now the highest value I found was 2400 bucks in excellent condition with the car having 1000 miles on it.
Through NADA which is some value place it broke down to where a base Tbird is worth 875 low retail, 1600 med retail, and 2050 high retail
Tbird LX low 925, medium 1675, and high 2150
Tbird Sport low 975, medium 1675, high 2150
Tbird TC low 1125, medium 1900, high 2400
 
Ok so then I got to looking through more places because that had me curious. So I go check out the infamous Kelly Blue Book since thats what most places use to judge the value of our cars. The car values are with just about every option I could think of that came on our cars as well as the cars having 1 mile on it since the website wouldnt let me use 0 as a mileage counter.
Tbird base  value 1630
TbirdLX      value 1820
Tbird Sport value 1905
Tbird TC    value 1820 manual trans 1955 auto trans
 
The KBB has me kinda wondering because the sport is the highest valued car like ours unless you get an auto TC.
and these are all for the 87 model year.
Just a little bit of worthless info you come up with later in the evening out of boredom. Who knows someone may want to know what their cars worth or how overpriced the people on ebay are.

it is rediculous, you aught to check out the price ppl wants for 80's stangs.. 4-6k for something with a mild built 302 and rusty quarter panels "SUPER FAST, blah blah blah".. for some 20 year old rusy bucket.. they aren't 60's stangs yet buddy.. and i can find em  just about everywhere.

Thats okay, my 86 cat only values at $80 or something like that. And that is if I put it in fair mechanical condition.

Haha, sounds like what I do at work to kill time.

I think the value of my car has actually gone up a little bit ove the past couple years. Nothing that would really make a difference but just a little. Maybe by $100 or so :giggle:

I hate the blue book and nada guides. They aren't fair to most cars especially those with extremely low miles. Their ways of calculating depreciation just don't adjust for the rarity or chance of finding a car in any specific condition.
