I butted into a car show...

And it was pretty cool.

Every saturday night, they have what they call a "cruise in", and its mostly cars ranging from 1910-1979, all kinds of things from rat rods to muscle cars to cruisers, anything you can imagine.

So i go to take my girlfriend there to check it out, and i say...fu*k it, im jumping in. I drive around twice, park myself in the show, lift my hood and walk away for a while.

Every so often, people would walk around the car, then look under the hood. I saw people look like "wtf is that", and some that thought it was cool. Best thing is, as i walked up to my car, there were two kids arguing over my blow off valve.

Now i just need to clean it up, finish some projects and hop back out there. Im hooked.
It's Gumby's fault.

Oh, I see how it is. Choose the girl over a day of playing with cars.
If you were the 5 year old version of yourself, you'd kick your ass. :D

Just kidding. That's cool.

I actually took my black car to a show, well not in the show, but I had my hood up so I could add water. People walked by and said WTF is that? lots of people were saying it was a beat to s*** mustang. I thought it was funny. I wanna finish up my dad's 91 crown vic and brint that in with a h.o. stamp on the intake to see what people will say.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Yeah, they're fun. I enjoy seeing people look at or ignore my car and hearing any comments. I saw one old man walk over to it, look it over inside and out and smile.

So far, I've heard the following

Wow,  I didn't know they looked like that in '88.

Father: Look what he's done to the motor.
Son: It's no different than my Mustang

Young son: *excited* Hey dad look at this one!
Father: That's a Cougar, get over here. *walking towards one of 7 first gen camaros in the show.

Wife: to husband...What's that?
Husband: snaps back...That's a cougar, I had one of them. It's nothing.

There have been a ton that I've overheard. The topper was when this one guy walked up to me.
him: You want another one of these? I have one next to my garage and it's a piece of $h!t just like yours.
He then ran away. :rollin:

starting this month every tuesday night they have cruisenight in the nearby town. regular cruisenights, every tuesday, usually are fairly small, maybe 50-100 cars. but once a month is the supercruise... and its massive, 1000+ cars, and people come from across the country.

strange cause its just a small town that you wouldnt expect to have one of the biggest car shows around.

ive seen everything from restored model t's to brand new cars there.

You wanna see a car get some second looks, enter a Turbo Coupe at the World Ford Challenge. It's great :giggle:

Don't get me wrong, I like Fox mustangs, but when you get that many of them together in one place they all start to look the same...cowl hoods, saleen or cobra wings, Cobra R wheels, and they're allllll 5.0's....

I can't wait to see/hear some of the reactions my car gets this year, mainly because I've got some dents down the side and the clearcoat is starting to bubble/peel on the roof & trunk lid (just a little) but the engine bay is all pretty, and I've got a bunch of stuff done to it. Should be fun.

I used to take my '90 2.3L Mustang out there, I'm sure people made fun of it a lot, but I was told that two kids were looking at it once and one was telling the other about my supercharger, whilst pointing at the power steering pump....

I love cruise ins as well.  One time there was a man leaning on the front od my dad's Chevelle with his cigarette hanging just above the battery.

Once I get my Thunderbird HO project finished, I'm going to take it to cruise ins and park right in the middle of where the millions of the Fox 5.0 Stangs sit :flip:

My T-bird always gets attention at shows probably because there aren't many of them left. If people do see one it's rusty and clapped out. I usually get a lot of questions about the car. Here are some of the more common ones.

How old is that T-bird?

What year is it?

Those came with 5.0s?

Is that a Turbo Coupe?

Some statements.

Wow that's a nice T-bird. I used to have one of those back in the late 80s.

I haven't see a T-bird of this vintage that clean in over 10 years.
