The only good prom date left for me... May 04, 2006, 11:05:53 PM ...is pictured in my signature below. My senior prom is on Saturday, and I had a date lined up. We have known each other since 7th grade, and during that time I was kind enough to give her several (translation: several more than I should've) chances to "make things right." Anyways, a few days ago we were talking on the phone and she started going off about how she thinks my mom hates her, but yet she refuses to talk to her about it (nevermind the fact that mom has always been kind to her and doesnt...well...didnt hate her). Well, fast-forward to today. My best friend and I go to pick up our tuxes. Even though we ordered our tuxes within minutes of each others, his was there and mine wasn't. Surprise surprise, FedEx hadn't delievered my tux! (remember how they screwed me over on my 3.27 rear end gears a couple of months ago). As my friend fits into his tux, I'm just pacing around outside when my cell phone rings. It's my prom date. She tells me "Since you didnt lay out our prom plans yesterday, I've decided to go with [insert ugliest GIRL in school here]. I'll still dance with you at prom though." So I replied "Wait a second...how was I supposed to lay out prom plans if you were going off on a rampage about my mom the whole time?" When Saturday night comes, she's going to get it from me (and not in a good way). I had enough self control to keep from cussing her out right there in the formal attire store. Later I find out that she even told my best friend about the situation with my mom, and he pretty much told her she was nuts. THEN she had the audacity to tell my friend that I'M the one acting weird! It's the last straw with me; she's had WAY too many chances.Ok, now that I'm off my soap box (aahh...gotta love dramatic high schoolers), I'll tell you all my conclusion:Tomorrow, when I get home from school and pick up my tux, my Thunderbird is getting the most thorough washing she's ever gotten. I'm going to drive her to prom (well...I dont have my license yet so someone will have to come with me) and I'm going to have a good time with my true friends. I'm actually a lot more excited now than I was before about going. But now I've realized that the best girlfriend/date I'll ever have (at this point in life) will be my trusty Thunderbird, and I plan on taking advantage of it.Sorry for the long, dramatic post, but I needed to vent off some steam... My junior prom, my date and I hardly spoke the entire time... can you say awkward...My senior prom, my date cried because she couldn't walk down the steps with her father first and then walk down with me. I felt as significant as snot.I'm 3 years into college and have yet to find anyone close to a "keeper" Probably need to find me a slightly older more mature woman Quote Selected

The only good prom date left for me... Reply #5 – May 05, 2006, 12:25:30 AM i went to the prom as a sophmore with a senior friend, and my junior and senior years with the same girl that i dated for those 2 years..... had a lovely time..... then we broke up the first semester of college (those relationships never work when you goto colleges 6 hours apart) and then the following spring i met my wife and 7 months later we were married...... hmmmmm 12 1/2 years and 3 kids later, i guess i got lucky :)too bad i'm 32 and still trying to finish college...... so it's not all roses truthfully, sometimes i wish i would have finished college then got married.... oh well, life is like that sometimes..... just remember, if you take your car to prom, at least she won't be a bad date (unless she breaks down, then i guess your life really does suck).... sorry:dunno: Quote Selected

I say shes mature for her age, she says i'm immature for mine so we just agree to disagree (although i'm obviously right) besides *puts on flame suit* older women think they know everything, I got mine young while she can still be taught :p Quote Selected
The only good prom date left for me... Reply #12 – May 05, 2006, 01:42:09 AM I used to really hate high school formals, proms, whatever. Sometimes you get stuck on a date with a girl who just really needs to take a hike. Plus, it just gets really uptight and stuffy if the "group" dynamic is off ... which was like 90% of everyone else in the group who got stuck with their last choice or someone who was just desperate to get ANYONE.So, for my senior prom, me and my best buddy decided to refuse all offers. We still went to the traditional dinner with everyone and rode in the limo to the dance, but neither of us bought a ticket. Instead, we took that ticket and tuxedo rental money and spent it out on the town. Basically, we had the whole limo with driver to ourselves (since it was still rented out for a few more hours), lots of cash, a big screen TV in the back with the NBA playoffs on, and no lame dates who cared more about how they look than having a good time. The only bad part was the gay "jokes" and "accusations" from others in the dinner group ([Seinfeld]: Not that there's anything wrong with that!). Jealous s! Quote Selected
