The Picture Says It All...

Ford Restyles Design Departments

Ford is shuffling its design staff around the world, and several key pensmen are landing in new slots. Moray Callum, formerly the head designer at Mazda, will become design director for Ford cars. He'll be replaced at Mazda by Laurens van den Acker, who becomes general manager of Mazda's Design Division. Back in the U.S., Patrick Schiavone, whose place Callum is taking, becomes design director of trucks.

Mazda's designs are definitely maturing and becoming more graceful. Maybe this will be a good thing...who knows. Can't hurt any, that's for sure.

And we wonder why we're stuck in the 1980's...

Meh.  There are ups and downs all the time.  If you'll notice, there is an upward trend there at the end of the chart.  It'll turn around.

They gotta bring back some originality! What incentive is there to buy a car that looks like 12 other models on the road?
