BLOWN TRANNY!?wtf?! April 30, 2006, 01:04:56 AM okay so i was backing up and apparently my wheels were spinning, and it didnt show anything on my spedometer that they were spinning(like how the mph just shoots up to an insane number..it didnt do that.) so i just thought everything was cool and i shifted it into overdrive while at a "stop" and well to make a long story short. my ****ing tranny is blown at 69000 miles...right before im selling the car. does any body know or recommend what i do to get a new tranny? BLOWN TRANNY!?wtf?! Reply #1 – April 30, 2006, 09:40:22 AM you sure its your tranny and not your rear end? moving from reverse to drive while the tires are spinning could cause you to breaks the gears in the rearend. Quote Selected

BLOWN TRANNY!?wtf?! Reply #3 – April 30, 2006, 12:40:02 PM I could be wrong but doesnt the speedo work off of the driveshaft rotation? Quote Selected
BLOWN TRANNY!?wtf?! Reply #4 – April 30, 2006, 01:54:06 PM The speedo gear is on the output shaft....so if the driveshaft isn't spinning...then either the output shaft is broken after the speedo drive gear or the splines on the slip yoke are stripped. Quote Selected
BLOWN TRANNY!?wtf?! Reply #5 – April 30, 2006, 02:05:47 PM and if the gears in the rear end are broke the driveshaft will spin and it will read on the speedo but the car will not move. Quote Selected

BLOWN TRANNY!?wtf?! Reply #8 – April 30, 2006, 03:00:05 PM Yes, but he said the driveshaft does not spin, so the problem here is not the rear end gears. Quote Selected
