91 XR7 Calipers

few questions about the calipers. first off i need rears, and ive read a few of you are using lincoln mark 7 calipers on the rear. does this apply to my car? what about mark 8 rear calipers fitting? saw one of those in the yard with new looking brakes.

isthere a rebuild kit out there? has anyone tried to rebuild them?

you have an mn-12 car. i think they can upgrade to the 99-04 Cobra brakes... but don't quote me on that.

if you are just looking for replacements then check http://www.rockauto.com for calipers and rebuild kits.

Well, As MarkVII's are solid, and Mark VIII are ind. rear ends..what you'd need is Mk8 stuff....
Then again, I'm not sure if there's a difference in the MN12 lines...
But rest assured, nothing from a Mk7 will work on your 91 Cougar...
Cougarnuts.com has some info on the MN12 chassis, which is what your car is, if you didn't know...hope this helps ya some

If your MN12 already has discs on the back, they are not any different than what is on a Mark8.  The Mark8 only had different fronts, all MN12 rears are the same.  As far as upgrading to the Cobra brakes, you would need new hubs, and wheels for sure, I cant remember what all else you would need.  Cobras have a different wheel stud pattern than an MN12.  MN12s are 5 x 4.25 inches, and Mustangs are 5 x 4.5 inches for the bolt circle.  If I am remembering correctly, there is a tech article about brake upgrades on TCCOA.com
