Fuel Tank Pick-up April 25, 2006, 05:06:33 AM I have noticed you can get the fuel tank pick ups for carburated engines that have nothing but basically tube and disc. does anyone know if they make them to fit the 21 gallon tank in my 84 mercury cougar? or if the mustang pick up works? In jegs it shows they have a high flow pickup tube. i am lookin for something i can use to run with my 84 cougar's gas tank the engine will be a 2.3 n/a carb with mech fuel pump. thanks eric Quote Selected

Fuel Tank Pick-up Reply #2 – April 26, 2006, 10:56:40 AM Lmao i was lookin for a response to it lol. But yes the engine will move the car.... the cougar is not tooo much heavier than the 86 mustang hatchback lx that this engine came out of. the 86 was a 4 speed with 3.08 rear gears.... the cougar has 2.73's but im swapping out 3.73 gears. the 86 stang actually moved pretty nicely for what it was.. also when the motor is in the cougar it will have some exaust work done... at minimum a header Quote Selected

Fuel Tank Pick-up Reply #4 – April 28, 2006, 08:52:18 AM sorry, i was just so surprised at hearing about that swap, that I didn't know what else to say!! so when is the turbo being put on!! hehe Quote Selected
Fuel Tank Pick-up Reply #5 – April 28, 2006, 09:41:30 AM never lol the 2.3 n/a is going to be a temp motor due to needing vehicle atm. later the 2.3 goes into a mini stock and v8 sits between the strut towers :-D that is once we get another DD so no turbo. The rear gears in the cougar will be 3.73's and probably will end up getting a 4 speed transmission vs the T-5 due to the fact i can use the 4 speed for mini stock racing hehe. Quote Selected
