another cluster question

Ok I know this has been discussed and I know I probably missed the answer but after about a half hour of searching on here, what do we do if there is no 5V IVR return? according to the chart from cool cats its dark green and white. Now I know the color dont really mean squat so I matched the numbers because half the time the name is different between the guages as well.
On the buttstuffog cluster it shows the 10 slot as 5V IVR return circuit 367 dg/w. Ok now on the base cluster which is what I had it has slot 14 grey plug 5V out from guages circuit 367 dg/w. They should be the same wire problem is my car dont have this wire. Now I know the colors can be different because I have an orange with white stripe ground wire I would think that would be black. What exactly does this wire do? Is it important? Can I just leave it off? Its the last wire I have to hook up and it will be perfect except that stupid amp guage. Im guessing on it as long as it moves then the battery has juice.:D I even went an extra step and got the check engine light to work.
My other question on this, I'll go ahead and put it here so I dont have to start a new thread. I have the cluster from a TC so first off I know the tach is going to be off but actually at idle its only reading around 1400 so I dont think its off that much though I may be wrong. The cluster has the turbo guage, my car doesnt have turbo of course. But I noticed there was a vacuum fitting on the back of the cluster. Does this work by applying vacuum to the line or pressurizing it? Basically does it suck or blow to make the guage go up and down?

The guage reads boost. What do you think it needs to work?

I don't believe my car has the ivr return hooked up.

well Im guessing vacuum? and appearently I dont have the IVR Ive accounted for all the wires and that ones no where to be found any clue what it is?

It measures pressure (boost). Connecting a vacuum line to it will do nothing, since it can't go less than "0" (Ford actually put a stop in to prevent the needle from moving back past 0)

so there wouldnt be anyway to tell like how much intake pressure you have or something with it? I hate to have a guage that doesnt work and a turbo aint exactly in the budget right now

Nope, and if you do have intake pressure without a turbo or supercharger you've got problems :hick: . You should have vacuum, or when the engine isn't running (or at wide open throttle), you should have atmospheric pressure. I removed the boost gauge needle and painted over the numbers on my TC cluster:

would be ok but what if I want to put the indiglo guages in where the only thing they have is for TC? or if I want to add a turbo or supercharger to it later on?

For each revolution, a V8 fires the coil twice as many times as an inline 4, so at 700 (V8), the TC(4) tach will say 1400. Sounds about right.

well and here I was worried about it lol and on the tach mines the V6 shouldnt be quite double should it?

You haven't swapped in a 5.0 yet????

You "added" the tach to a 6-cyl car, and "subtracted" it from a 4-cyl.
My calculator says + 6 - 4 = 2.

No not yet still waiting for the funding to build back up so I can buy the last couple of parts I need to swap.

Actually as far as cylinders its a 4 cyl tach so it reads for 4.
An 8 cyl. reads for 8. 8 is exactly double 4 so if the motor is doing 1000 RPM the Tach should be reading 2000 RPM with a 4 cyl tach on an 8 cyl motor. But since its only a 6 cyl wouldnt it read exactly half of double? Basically if the motor is running at 1000 RPM the tach shows 1500 RPM?

Just take the thing out and change the resistance value. I did it for my v6.

But I just got it put in I cant take it back out yet

. And honestly the tach being off doesnt really bother me at the moment I was more curious about the boost guage. I was just noting that I know the tachs off before anyone went to the trouble of posting it and then we got on the subject of it. I still have an automatic in the car so the tach isnt a necessary thing really other then another guage to move when you step on the gas :D . But since your brought up the idea of changing the resistance value, It mentioned something about adding another resistor to that one. How would I go about that exactly? just solder another resistors connectors to the one thats already there?
