factory 3rd brake light? or not

I was curious my 84 mercury cougar had a 3rd brake light..... i dont see it on pictures of 84 mercury cougars nor in the options on coolcats.  It was held on by a double sided black foam to the rear window.  Anyone think this was stock or done later?

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

It was government law for 1986 models.  Yours sounds aftermarket, I remember (back in the day) everyone was selling those stupid things to retrofit older cars and people bought them like popcorn at a movie.

carb cleaner or brake cleaner will disolve the foam.
