Can't figure out why my low beams wont work, high beams do.

I've tried replacing the bulbs, no luck.
I've looked at the light switch and dimmer, good contacts.
Fuse? I don't even know where to start looking.
So far I've been driving with my high beams on and well, not long before they go with constant use.

check the solenoids, up and to the right of your foot (gas pedal). my car did that, i replaced all of the solenoids and they started working, as well as my door chime (would chime whenever the door was open, whether keys were in or not, whether headlights on or not)

When you say the low beams don't work, do you mean the highs stay on when you operate the dimmer switch?

If so it has to be the multifunction switch. Either the dimmer switch is stuck in high or the flash to pass switch is stuck in pass.

If the flash to pass is stuck, when the dimmer is in low, both the highs and lows will be on together. You should notice a change in intensity when when you operate the dimmer switch.

If the flash to pass is stuck you can remove it's fuse and the headlights will still work.
For '84 T-Bird/Cougar it is fuse 16.

If you have no lights with the dimmer in low it is the dimmer switch, the bulbs or the wiring in between. according to the '84 EVTM.

The '01 Crown Vic/Grand marquis has fuses between the dimmer switch and the low beam lights.

Driving with high beams can be hazardous to your health. My brother had his dimmer switch stick on high on his '57 Ford many years ago. He was in south New Jersey on his way to Cape May. One guy got so mad at him for not dimming he made a U-turn and followed my brother flashing his lights and blowing his horn for 15 miles to Cape May. The two kids and the wife were all crying. When he got into town with lights and people around he pulled over and got out. When the guy saw how big my brother is he drove off.

I fixed it so I can use the switch, but i lose my high beams as a result, but i never use them. I just connected the red/yellow to the red/black wires in the steering column on the top brown connection. Works fine! So far, everything it peachy on the car to drive it properly, next up, mufller replacement.
