May 20th = A Success!!

I've been in contact with Rick (One Way) and we are organizing a get together on May 20th. We have a full day of events planned and anyone who can attend is welcome.

The day will start out with breakfast followed by a drive to an excellent junkyard and wrapping up with a car cruise.

The Itinerary
9a.m. - about noon
Meet up at The Cookery in North East

The Cookery is located at
272 Lums Road
North East, MD 21901
It is right off of I-95 exit 100 at the Flying J Truck Stop.
There is plenty of parking. There you can grab some breakfast and the length of time we are there should allow plenty of travel time for anyone who wants to attend.

Noon - ?
We will then cruise over to Mars Junkyard which is just up the road from The Cookery. This yard has well over 30 Fox Tbirds, Cougars, and Lincolns. Most of which are complete and not destroyed.
You can come and browse or if you would be getting anything, be sure to bring your own tools.

After we are finished at the junkyard, we will head to a car cruise.
The location of the cruise is the Fox Run Shopping Center in Delaware as they have a huge show on the 3rd saturday of each month. This cruise will involve a 15 mile 20 minute drive along route 40 which is a 50-55mph road.

We'd like to get as many Tbirds, Cougars and Lincolns together as possible.:D
So if you are interested, we would love to have you join us.

Are there any dirt roads or parking lots that we would have to park on at any of these places?

The parking area at the junk yard is crush & run and grass.  All else is paved.

Karl, if you can make it that would be great. If you would rather keep your car at the breakfast place, I can take you over to the junkyard if you want.

The road infront of the junkyard is paved if I remember correctly so you could probably park there on the street. It's basically a dead end so it won't have any traffic running through.

But yeah, if you're worried about a lot of dust and dirt, we can work around it. It isn't any worse than the gravel parking lot at the park in Cat Jam '04.

Just an update.
We will be heading to the cruise at the Fox Run Shopping Center in Delaware after the junkyard.

Also a note on the junkyard. The owner has sold out to a developer and the land will be cleared probably some time in June or July. This means all the inventory will likely be crushed and sold for s. Just a little fyi.

What a shame too.  He has some of the cleanest cars.  Some are better than cars seen at some used car lots. :disappoin

I would like to go but I have a bit of a problem.  If I'm going to a junkyard to pull parts, I'm going to get dirty and I'm going to need a large trunk if I get any large parts.  The biggest trunk I have is not on the back end of a Cougar.  So, if I go to the yard, I won't be able to go to the show.

Ideas, suggestions? :dunno:

Promise yourself you will not pull big parts. ;)

Don't know what else to say.  I have a feeling we'll need to car-pool up to Mars, parking isn't exactly huge and might even be a little messy if it rains.

I don't know I just ran by there a couple days ago and it looks like he should easily be able to accomodate 20 cars. I don't think we have that many attending do we? Man I hope it doesn't rain. If that's the case we might have to forgo the junkyard and probably even the car show. :(

Karl, I may have my dad run backup in his truck just incase I have problems with my car (or anyone else for that matter). If you get anything big, we could probably just put it in the bed and I can store it for you until you can come up and get it. Just a suggestion.
