question ??? Reply #2 – April 06, 2006, 12:07:58 PM I think you're about 15 years too early for that sort of thing... Quote Selected
question ??? Reply #3 – April 06, 2006, 12:51:39 PM This brings up an intresting thought. How hard would it be to fab one up? Cabin filters just fit under the cowl panel. Quote Selected
question ??? Reply #4 – April 06, 2006, 01:12:18 PM Physically fitting one shouldn't be much of an issue. Integrating it into the HVAC system...that's quite another. I would imagine that much higher tolerances (such as vacuum insulating power) would be required of the system. The way it worked on the Contour/Mystique/FWD Cougar, the filter would trap particles somewhere around .5 microns. Now if you've ever removed the instrument panel piece on a 1985-88 car, and touched that oily foam that goes around the vent, and totally smooshed it...you can pretty much tell that our HVAC system wasn't exactly designed around the greatest of sealing power. A .5 micron particle can easily slip through almost anywhere in our system...hell, I bet something 10x bigger than that would. So...yeah, we could put one in, but using the stock setup it wouldn't do much good. Besides, we don't have a vent recirculation setting...the only thing that does recirculate is MAX A/C. That's been the only thing that can keep from drawing in fresh air. I would think people would like to have that option for a cabin filter...in other words, instead of just continuously filtering fresh air, it could also have the option of recirculating the existing air through the filter. Most cars made after ours (especially imports) have that option already. It may be possible to reconfigure our setup to do that but would require a new vacuum routing and probably a new heater panel setup. Quote Selected

question ??? Reply #6 – April 07, 2006, 02:56:18 AM Yeah autozone lists alot of parts on their website that our cars dont have. Dont remember right off hand but last time I was there I found dozens of things that werent even put on these cars. Quote Selected
