Porting a 2.3 head

I've never ported before. I have a compressor and a good die grinder. But basically I'm looking to produce the best results. Let me start by telling you that I'm gonna start with a 2.0 NA ranger head. I'm gonna be drillingit out to bolt on my 88 TC intake. I really was wondering if any one has done this and can help me get good results. It's just gonna be a cheap fix because it's already remand to the 2.0 specs. I bought it for $100. Just looking to start some of the porting so I have a better Idea of what to do on my turbo head that I'm gonna take off and replace with the 2.0 head. The 2.0 head is just to make it driveable. That is while I reman my 84 block and that 2.3t head that I'm gonna rebuild. So pics and any explaination would be great

Honestly, I'm not so sure if you should waste your time on a 2.0 ranger head. Porting is a fairly labor-intensive process, and 2.0 heads are so py that I doubt porting would even help them all that much.

But, if you're dead set on it...on the 2.0 heads, enlarging the ports is probably the most beneficial thing you can do. Just don't go too big. Make em bigger, smooth em out, but don't invest too much time into it because it's not worth it, especially if you plan on porting another head.

Thanks for the input. Over at turbo ford they tell me the reanger 2.0 BO head can be made to flow even better than the turbo head. Anyhow I just plan on useing it while I build my real motor for the car. Beisides it could come in handy when I start on my 85 cougar XR7 2.3T

Who on TF said the 2.0 ranger head could be made to flow better than a d-port? I thought it was a common understanding that 2.0 ranger heads were junk. Sure you're not thinking of a dual plug ranger head?
