I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Site is a bit faster now.  However, the MN12 section is not working.

, i'm about to cry now too. and it is all so true. We are all fans cause we remember what these cars were like "back in the day". My friend had an 88 'bird 5.0 when we were in highschool. We put a bunch of truck parts (maf, intake, ect) on it and got a few more ponies out of it and it was pretty darn quick. and that started my tbird love affair. and I will never love a ford the same as I did my old ones, the old capri's and stangs, the 'birds/cougars.. *sigh*

That's true to a point.  But most of the time people look on the past with rose tinted glasses.  You simply cannot compare our cars to vehicles of today.  Hard plastic everywhere and screws clearly visible in almost every interior panel are just a couple of things that you just don't hardly see on new cars today.  The fit and finish on any newer car is much more refined than on ours, especially when it comes to the interior.  The 80s Tbirds and Cougars are elegantly dated.

Call me an optimist, but I think that Eric's doom and gloom about the future of Ford and domestic carmakers in general is a bit premature.
