Time to part with an old friend

I've owned her since new, and it's now time to let her go.  I just don't have the time to devote to her anymore, and I need the garage space for my Cobra project.  She's an '86 TurboCoupe/5.0/5 speed.  The engine that is in now is a more or less stock 5.0, SVO heads, ported stock intake, 65MM TB,  JBA headers, MSD, etc.  She is equipped wwith a Maximum Motorsport K member, Koni "yellow" double adjustable shocks and Hypercoil coilovers.
The rear is a 8.8 Mustang,3.55 gears, auburn posi, and rear end girdle.  MM lower control arms, MM panhard bar, and Koni adjustable series 30 race shocks and Hypercoil coilovers. Driveshaft is  custom built aluminum with HD U joints. Wheels are original Cobra R58's (not replicas) tires are Dunlop SP8000, brakes are the Cobra M2300K brake kit.  Also equipped with a Griffin aluminum radiator.  Stereo is an Alpine head unit, one 4 channel amp, and one briged amp to power a single Cerwin Vega sub.  The front seats have been professionally redone in the original fabric, and all the window channel felt and rubber has been replaced, as well as the window motors.  Have numerous spare parts, original hood, extra instruments, etc.  Serious inquiries only.  Can only show the car by appointment, because I'm away from home for extended periods.  $3500.00 firm.  If you don't remember what it looks like, e mail me and I'll send you a link to my imagestation site, since cardomain took my photos down.

You're in CA, aren't you? How do you deal with emissions?

As I stated earier, the car has an almost stock engine in it now.  everything on it is smog legal.  I got it smogged in Feb, and it put out 0% HC.  The smog tech thought there was something wron with his machine.  It has never failed a smog inspection in all the time I've owned it.

I've got some stuff I'm not using, a ported Edel performer RPM intake, 70mm Accufab billet TB, set of FMS stainless cermaic headers, 80mm ProM and air filter, Vortech S trim with some parts missing, an Anderson Ford motorsport fresh air duct for a S/C application.  Prolly some other stuff that I can't think of.  I'm keeping the 42lb injectors, because I'm thinking about going to a individual stack injection on my Cobra.

HOly ! I'm starting the begging campaign with the wife tonight! That should sell quick at $3500... Hopefully to me!

BTW, does the AC work?
How's the clutch?
What kind of 5 speed?
Does it need pads or rotors, ie, any steering wheel wobble when braking?
And finally, probably a stupid question, but could it reliably make it to TX?

I'm gonna work hard to sell this idea to the wife!

lol, i started too do the same, but my TC has given me so much  that it would have been a tremedus uphill battle. at that price it is a steal... i'd hate to see this car go to some mustang guy who'll just part it up. good luck. :D

Hi, I'll answer your questions in order:

1, The A/C is not installed now, but all the parts are there and included with the car.  it was working when I removed it.

2,  The clutch is a Ford Motorsport "cobra" cliutch, and is in excelllent condition.

3,  The trans is a T5 out of a 5.0 Mustang, and it has a steel bearing retainer and the tailshaft bushing and seal was replaced not too long ago.

3,  The brakes are in "as new" condition, the whole braking system is the Cobra R kit sold by ford Motorsport, 13" front rotors and PBR calipers, and 11" rear rotors.  The front rotors are upgraded "Brembo" rotors. No wheel wobble or anything like that.  The rack is 2000 Cobra rack that I got from my local Ford dealer.

3, I see no problem with the car driving to Texas, but it would be a pretty stiff ride, the coilovers in the car now are designed for autocross, and would be a little stiff for a cross country trip.  Front coils are 375 in/lbs, and for street use, it would use around a 300  in/lb spring.  Coilovers are easy to change, the're not under compression like a standard spring is, jack the car up, take the shock loose at the top, R & R the spring, piece of cake.  They are available from http://www.maximummotorsports.com

Hate to see you sell John but hey....you got another cool project on the go.

Personally I think you're selling it far too cheap given all the suspension work. I'd Ebay it with a $3500 reserve....you might be surprised how much it goes for.
