this is the one with the same hermaphadite half carb half fuel injection throtle body P.O.S. that came in the '84 t-bird. i've already done something simular to my old '84 t-bird and was just wondering if the colors were the same ford wide. you know the blinker on a crown vic might be say for argument sake is purple(i don't know if this is the color or not) would the same blinker wire on the digi dash be purple to just in a different spot? i justwant top make shure before i start frying stuff by trial and error you know what i mean...

I wouldn't assume that for a second, considering that we've had posts on here (I believe it was for gauge cluster swaps), where the wire colors didn't match even for two same-year cars, because the engines were different, or some other totally unrelated option was installed in one car.

Much safer to get an EVTM, or photocopy the diagrams at the library, or search the Web for them (autozone.com?), not just twist a couple of wires together and turn the key to see what happens.

I have a 93' Vicki........I really doubt the wire color/code for a Vicki is the same or even close to a T-Bird/Cougar.

I think the engine harness is different too.  Hell, I think colors and different harness arrangements change from year-to-year.  Eric can vouch for that I'm sure.

What are you looking to do anyway, use a crown vic cluster or something?  I'm not sure that will even fit.  I guess I'm confused.  What crown vic site are you going to?  CrownVic.net guys sometimes won't answer n00bs questions.  Try http://www.GrandMarq.net they're a little more laid back and don't hate on new people as bad.  Just stay out of 'Teh Battlefield' over there.

sorry it took so long to respond i moved out to the country and it took forever to get the internet back on. what i'm trying to do is take the fox digital dash and mod it into the crown vicky. and i needed to know if the wiring was the same so i could wire it up.
P.S. i know about the sensor swaps and all that  jaz. all i need to know is the wire colors and what they do on a crown vicky in '84 with the 5.0

The Mustang, Mark-VII, Contentinal are similar to the Tbird, and Cougar... The Big Lincoln, CV/GM is somewhat different from those... At least according to a factory '87 Emissions Manual... Dunno about earlier years, but I suspect the same deal...

Did they make Crown Vics in '84? I thought they made LTD's.

They made Crown Vics way back in the 50's. The Crown Vic was the big LTD (Panther based), the plain LTD was the small LTD (Fox based) back in the early 80's.

I remember when the first Crown Vic came out in '55. It had a wide crome strip across the roof of the car. I thought they had dropped the name by the 60's

83 should be the year they dropped the "LTD" from the Crown Victoria, since that's when the Fox "baby" LTD was born.

The early Crown Vics were only around for '55 & '56, was dropped for '57 when the Fairlane 500 and new retractable hardtop Skyliner got top billing.
