01 Mustang Gt Parts

I just picked up the front and rear springs and the front struts and rear shocks out of an 01 Stang GT! These struts and shocks are stiff! Car had been wrecked. Looked like it didn't have that many miles. Really clean.

So who knows what these springs will do to my car? Lower or raise?

Well I'm off to install some new parts! :D

Well I don't know what the weight difference between the 3.8, 4.6, and 5.0 is, but I'd be willing to bet that they raise your car a bit. Judging that 5.0 equipped cars that use them drop some, and I'd imagine since the 3.8 is smaller it weighs less, well you're smart, I bet you already figured this one out.

GT eh? You still have the 3.8 in there? Probably the front will raise, and be somewhat "chattery" on rough surfaces like washboard roads, and I'd say the back will stay the same or drop very slightly. Not real sure what the rear ends of the newer Mustangs weigh, compared to Fox Cat/Birds.
Anyway, take some pics when you're done, and tell us more...more, more!

Well I only can do the rear. The spindles are 1 inch wide on mine and 3/4 wide for the struts. Gona have to upgrade to 11 brakes. Boo Hoo! lol I'm heading to the junkyard again to snag those parts.

The rear is about 1 1/2 lower now. Wich sucks because I look like a lowrider now. Rear end draggin the ground..... But That thing is FIRM!!!! No more plush mushy Cougar ride.

The rear springs are about an 1 1/2" shorter than the Cougar spring. Hence the height difference.

Can't wait to get the front done.

*EDIT* Just noticed in my sig pic, the gap above my rear tire is no longer there. The rear tire is about flush with the fender lip.

Hmm, well hopefully it lowers evenly or more in the front so it doesn't look goofy.

You didn't use the Mustang shocks on the rear did you?

I did chuck. And they are almost to the top of there travel. I found this out after reading a little more info last night. Went out and lifted up on the car for it to only come up about an inch. Gona do darkthunders shock bracket flip.

Yes, at least to that. You need that droop in the axle to keep things on the road. You won't notice it until you are at the limit, and the car tries to lift that inner rear wheel........then you go skittering.....

did you get them from McKees(sp) ? Cause i swear there was a green one there. I already checked that one out. Good price though... 25 a piece ain't bad. The douch working the lot was like... "She won't sell you those" and i asked her and she would! So yeah, i think those are the same ones. If not you went to U wrench it without me and i'm jealous. So yeah... find me some control arms for the ass of my car. please.

Hey Chuck, you think you could fab up some brackets that will position Mustang shocks up the correct amount? Purdy pleases. :D

PLEASE DO.....realy Chuck...as our resident fabricator its your duty....jk....put me right on that list. i will deffinetly need them. ditto for that tranny crossmember adaptor....did you ever find any more info on that?

Claude...how intact is the GT? if next time you go and if they are selling parts off of it pretty cheep than im looking for the hydroboost brake cyl...if its there can you ask how much it is? i think it will work for my setup....

Yes Chuck I think the new shock brackets would be awsome! And yes I've noticed the hoping around corners.

The hydraboost pump was gone.

After the car has settled down. I can no longer get the 2 1/2 ton floor jack under the gas tank. .
