Which foxes had ABS?  I know 87 and 88 TC's.....but is that it?  Just trying to better expand my knowledge of the fox family.

Yep...that's it.

In fact, if I'm not mistaken I believe the '87 Turbo Coupes were the first Ford vehicles to have ABS.

Interesting...wonder why they would put all the gems on a dieing breed?  2.3T, 5 speed, Ride control (which by the way is only shadowed today by the automatic systems), ABS, rear discs, etc.

Hmm...I wonder if I could rig up a Cobra ABS system on my Coug...anyone know if the systems have a 'PCM Recognition protocal'?  Basically a way to see if the PCM is correct for ABS operation to be enabled.  If not...I'm very good at wiring....

the 87-88 TC's, and the 84-92 LSC's

Honestly, i look at ABS as a downfall if youre any sort of performance driver. Under hard braking, wether or not my tires are locking up, my ABS starts pumping because of the drastic change in speed in relation to what the ABS computer see's fitting.

Also, the ABS system is heavily integrated into the car, it ties into the ride control system, and takes signals from the EEC also.
It's Gumby's fault.

I am gonna agree with shawn. Sometimes all this new computer spiffyness sucks.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

It is? Hell, I didn't know that. My car didn't seem to mind when I pitched the whole abs setup.

The ABS doesnt put any inputs to the EEC, it only takes VSS signals from the EEC, and i believe something else.

What makes it a PITA, is that your brake system and your ride control system are tied together in some ways. When you lay on the brakes, the front struts will firm up, and things of that nature. Its a very involved system.
It's Gumby's fault.

How can they "firm up" anymore when you've' already got it set on "firm" anyway? The PRC only has two settings...."firm" and "mushy."

well...with us in our permanant firm ride (my switch never moves), it makes no difference, but in auto it does.
