8.8 Question..

hey guys..i want to ask u,would the mustang 8/8 differential take a beating? my engine combo is in my sig and im gonna be spraying at least a 125 shot..Would the 8.8 differential handle it? Can u recommend parts to beef it up if it doesnt take a beating? I have just grenaded my 7.5" and almost plowed into an electric transformer because of that..
Thanks in advance for ur input =)

we went 6.40's in the 1/8th with a basicly stock 8.8.I later put this rear in an 85 coupe and ran 7.17 with no issuse.

weld the tubes too the housing, get the gear girdle with the main bolts. rebuild it with a truck traction loc and axles and you should be all set for what you have and more....dont gague an 8.8 by what a 7.5 does....completely different. they are pretty  tough left stock....

They should be pretty closer, but I would just throw on a turbo coupe rear end, or even better, mark 7 rear end. The mark one is alittle bit wider(some say 3/4", some say not at all) but it is already 5 lug for those cobra r's everyone hates, and has vented rear brakes.

Most sn-95 rears are solids, same with the turbo coupe ones. the turbo coupe ones, are however, 8.8 with really good rear end ratio's (3.55 for the manual, 3.73 for auto) and are guarenteed to hace traction lock and things of the like.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.
