I hate chevy - wont start *Fixed*

1986 Chevy S-10 2.8L TBI Been sitting for 5 years, started once within the last two.

Replaced:
Spark plugs
Oil
Oil Filter
Fuel Filter
Air Filter
Battery

Drained oil and removed spark plugs, refilled oil, replaced filter(through hole in wheelwell!) and battery. Un-plugged the coil and turned over for a while to get oil flowing. put in new plugs, plugged in coil. replaced fuel filter (had to remove PS pump...) and put everything back together.

It will turn over fine, its getting spark (fired when I poured contents of old fuel filter in to the tb) but it looks like the injectors arent working. I put a long screwdriver to the injectors and I cant hear them clicking. The fuel pump is working. I ran codes and its only flashing 12 (A-Okay)

Any ideas? can the injectors dry up and stick? anyone know how to test them?

I took half a day off work to get this going so i'm going to be chapped if I have to spend my weekend on this thing

Actually, 12 is "no ignition pulse", something that is usually OK, because when you're pulling codes the engine ain't running, so there will naturally be no pulse. Since you don't have any fuel, though, that code could actually be the problem - if the computer isn't getting a pulse from the HEI module, it won't fire the injectors.

To test the injectors, put a node light (injector test light) in the injector harness and see if it flashes when you crank the engine. If it flashes the injectors are getting a signal from the ECM. If it doesn't flash you aren't getting the signal, which means that it could be the ignition coil or ECM itself

Whatever it was it fixed itself, just went out and it fired right up.

Maybe it was air trapped in the fuel line from changing the filter?
