New carpet

I finally got my new carpet into my bird ...man what a difference it makes. I highly recommend Metro parts market for a new carpet. The molding of the carpet fits great, it came with the foam pads underneath and the rubber square spot for the drivers side foot pedal area, just need to cut the holes for the seat belts etc. It has that new car smell again.:rollin:

I would send the pics i have but i cant upload the 624 kb that the pics are. Any suggestions? I waited a week or so to let the mold correct itself from being folded in the shipping box, after a week or so it formed great to the floor everywhere it should, mind you its always about 5 billion degrees in my shop so that may have helped it settle in. I will get a few photos of it with everything installed shortly and post those. Its way cheaper than i thought as well as extremely worth the $$$

Cool! I think new carpet is always a great upgrade for any interior. I have new carpet in the box waiting to be installed in my Cougar once weather decides to co-operate!

i recently took my carpet out. i first ripped all the insulation off the back of it so their is just carpet left. i cant belive how light it was afterwards. then i hot pressure washed it at my dads shop. the washer they have had a burner for the hot water and soap injection. worked so good it stripped the grease right out of it where the power seat tracks touched. i was amazed you couldnt even tell where the grease was and it was black. my carpet is light grey. the only thing about it now is you can see the difference from where the sun faded it. shouldnt be all that noticeable once its in the car though.

im still thinking of just buying a new one. love too see pics. how thick is the carpet pyle...is it at least as dense as the factory carpet?

Thicker...that's going to be tough. There are only around 3 manufacturers of carpeting in the U.S.; mine is directly from ACC. Their carpeting is 16-oz. The 1983-86 Cougar GS (base) had that thickness. The 1983-86 LS and XR7 had 24-oz. AFAIK all 1987-88 cars had 24-oz. Since my convertible is an '86 LS, I actually stepped down from 24-oz. to 16 oz. with the new carpeting. Personally I don't care because, hell, it's a summer car and as mentioned it was a lot easier to work with and make cuts where needed. But there is no substitute for the thicker stuff. If anyone finds thicker carpeting it would be good to know.

also try http://www.accmats.com, they are located here where i live and have been suppling auto carpets as long as i can remember.  i usually just go down and walk in, but they ship every where and many other places are a distributor for them.  it is very good quality...

Here are some of the pics as it was just getting put in and had a few wrinkles still and i hadnt ran the drivers side wiring through etc. I will get some newer photos with the seats in etc and re post later on. As far as thickness it is the thinner type of carpet.
