For Sale: 1987 Thunderbird LX in N/E Ohio....SOLD
Well, I know i'm gonna hate myself for this, but it's something I need to do. The time has come to sell my Thunderbird due to my just having aquired another car. Unfortunatly I can't keep 2 where I live and ultimately can't afford both right now. So I figure that I would first offer it up here to the people who i believe would appreciate it most, and hope do for it what I wasn't able to.
Now as for a little back story on this car, I am the 4th owner of it (according to CarFax). Two of the previous owners included my brother (he had it first) and my sister. Prior to that it was originally purchased in Ohio, lived for a while in North Carolina, then came back to Ohio.
As it stands this car has Approximately 119,000 miles on it and is my daily driver. In my past 2 years of ownership I have put around $4500 or so into it trying to get it back up to snuff, however I wasn't able to finish.
I have compiled a list of most everything I've done, and everything I can think of that needs to be done or may be wrong. I am looking to get $1000 for the car as it stands "with" the current stereo and speakers installed, or $850 with the stock stereo and speakers re-installed. I also have a Mustang H.O. Upper and 2 complete cruise control units which I will include in the sale. Also I will include the stock stereo and speakers if the car is purchased with the after market stereo.
The Good:
Done in the past year-
-New Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 Tires (Less than 1500 miles on them).
-Performance Friction front brake pads (11/05).
-Gorilla locking lug nut/valve stem kit (installed with new tires).
-Rear suspension redone with Napa progressive rate rear springs, KYB gas-a-just shocks and Energy Suspension coil spring isolators. (10/05).
-New throttle position sensor (10/05).
-New Idle Air controller (09/05).
-Optima red top battery (09/05).
-New Alternator, stock amperage (07/05).
-New positive and negative battery cables (09/05).
-New front wheel bearings, left and right (08/05).
-New Prothane swaybar endlinks and swaybar mount bushings.
-New water pump and thermostat (05/05).
-Replaced PCV valve and crankcase filter (05/05).
-Replaced both O2 sensors (03/05).
Within the Past 2 years:
-Replaced oil pan (chrome FRPP piece), oil pan gasket (FRPP rubber with steel inner), Melling oil pump, and Radiator hoses (Goodyear Hi-Miler) (11/04).
-Replaced entire front brake system, rubber hoses, calipers, pads, rotors and bearings (11/04).
-Installed New Pioneer DEH-P6400 headunit, Pioneer REV series rear speakers and Infinity Reference front dash speakers.
-Replaced exhaust (cat-back) with 1988 fake dual setup (08/04).
-Transmission Flush, filter replacement, and installed new FRPP chrome transmission oil pan (08/04).
-Replaced outer tie rod ends, left and right (06/04).
-Replaced ignition coil with MSD blaster coil (05/04).
-Replaced valve cover gaskets, rubber with steel inner (04/04).
-Complete tune-up including: fuel filter, spark plugs, FRPP 8mm blue plug wires, FRPP distributor cap and rotor, and K&N air filter (04/04).
-Replaced Serpentine Belt (03/04).
-Replaced swaybar with aftermarket ADDCO 1 1/8” bar (03/04).
-Replaced vehicle speed sensor (01/04).
-Replaced starter solenoid (01/04).
The bad:
-Salvage Title. This occurred during the period in which my sister owned the car. In no way is the car unable to be driven on the road legally (I do every day).
-Rust here and there. I feel that there is still plenty of good steel left as the rust has not made it above the bottom ¼ of the car. I believe it could be beat with some work.
-Lower intake manifold needs replaced. It is leaking from the rear of the engine.
-Needs a new balljoint on the right front.
-Needs both inner tie rods replaced and subsequent front-end alignment..
-Has an exhaust leak from where the cats meet the right front manifold.
-May need front struts and springs.
-Cruise control not working. Not sure as too why, but I have 2 additional complete units for replacement parts.
-Driver side door lock sticks when below freezing.
That should cover most everything. I have receipts for virtually everything i've had done or put into this car plus a few from previous owners.
