OBD II COde po302

Misfire in #2. Compression checked out OK. Engine sputters at irregular intervals. Sometimes during start up, sometimes during acceleration, and sometimes off the line at red lights. Sometimes runs fine for one day and then returns. Changed the wires, plugs and distro box a long time ago. New fuel filter also and bottle of injector cleaner. Problem seems to get better and then worse the next day. I'm out of ideas and don't feel like spending hundreds of $$$ hoping for a lucky guess. Can someone help?
PS: 1997 XR7 w/4.8 liter 100,700 miles
