Would you like salt for your fries? December 30, 2005, 11:51:13 PM I got up Xmas morning and opened my gifts. Since the wife was working nights and was heading to bed I decided to get in the Ranger and head out to my fathers for Christmas dinner. After the 3 and a half hour trip this is what my truck looked like...The road was pretty much clear and dry the whole way. So, if any of you guys/gals down south don't understand why us notherners are always complaining about road salt, now you know. PS. I also took the GPS with me to amuse myself during the 3.5 hour drive. Here's a map of the trip. Quote Selected

April is too early to take the cars out here. A couple years ago we broke a record for the most snow in a 24 hour period. It happened on the first week in April and we got 65cm...or 2 foot of snow. The dept. of highway was on strike at the time. We had bus loads of people stranded stuck in snow drifts and snowmobiles were used to rescue them. Quote Selected
Would you like salt for your fries? Reply #3 – December 31, 2005, 12:07:46 AM I usually take my car out in mid April. Once the ice is off the lakes I consider winter over. If we get snow after the car comes out, it just goes back in 'til the salt's gone again. That is, of course, when I'm not forced to take it out early do to the other car breakinng down... Would you like salt for your fries? Reply #4 – December 31, 2005, 02:04:45 AM Yeah that's what it's like here too...as soon as it starts snowing, out go the salt trucks. They dump salt & cinders all over the road and my car ends up looking like this: Quote Selected

Would you like salt for your fries? Reply #8 – December 31, 2005, 11:32:23 AM salt's a killer here too. Last year they just started to use a "slurry" that has salt/water or something like that... its supposedly more effective and I noticed less crud on my car last year. Quote Selected

Reply #9 – December 31, 2005, 12:27:23 PM Hmm, for some reason Ohio has grown a bubble, now snow here, only covered the road like once or twice this year but its not over yet. Hell there was only one "winter wonderland" day last year were snow covored everything down here. Quote Selected
