Hello,

I have a question for all of you experts. I have a '87 cougar XR-7 with the non-HO 5.0. My dad and I are putting in a 89 mustang GT HO 5.0 and doing the whole conversion deal. My problem is that on the cougar the engine mounts look like a small air bag with a steel encasp00get or are liquid filled. The mustang mounts are the standard hard rubber block. I am wondering if the shorty headers will work with the cougar mounts. I do not have the engine out yet to tell. any ideas? Thanks!

I'm pretty sure they will work, but from what I understand you might need to grind off a bit of the retention bracket as it may get into the headers.

Also, there will be another option HERE just after the first of the year if you're looking for something a bit more sturdy.

Okay, I'll give that a try. They aren't going to spring open or anything are they? Are those mounts like a anti-vibration design?

Any mustang shorty headers will work. The motor mounts for the cougar are a unique design to that car, if your going to swap engines you should replace the rubber part of the mount. They are available at Autozone and most other part stores.
