Torque box reinforcements?

So I'm just curious...how necessary are these things?

I've seen a few different kits for this out there and they all seem to be different. Are they necessary for a street driven car? I ask because I'm thinking about getting some CHE control arms eventually, and when I install those would be a good time to put in some torque box reinforcements if it was needed :dunno:

have them reinforced, if you make good power, and hook good once or twice, theres a good possibility youll rip them apart

as money comes along, my TC will be getting it, along with my red bird.
It's Gumby's fault.

There's a couple places on ebay that sell what are basically copies of Idle Wild's Battle Boxes...they look pretty stout though, and bolt right in. You can get the lowers only for $40, uppers for around $70-80, or the whole kit for around $100-120.  All the other kits I've seen are weld-in and seem to address the lower torque boxes only.

I've been thinking about how it would be nice to weld the seams around my torque boxes, but you basically gotta remove the rear axle for that...bleh :disappoin

I welded all the seams on my '85's torque boxes, as I know it will get driven hard.  Hell when it was stock it got a pounding.  Get them.. Trust me.  I ripped the torque boxes out of my '90 5.0OL Stang LX so many times That I just stripped the car and sped the rest.  I costed me $400 To have the one repaired by a body shop.  Do that too many times and see how much pain and money you will save.
